what does that mean?
all we're doing is delaying their civil war (the end of which is the only hope for stability), and imposing democracy where nobody wants it.
why are we still there?

The people of Iraq want their own government and they want democracy. Iran doesn't want them to have either one, becauwe Iran has designs on annexing the country for it's own gain. Not only is this unacceptable to Iraq, it's unacceptable to the whole middle east. Syria, the Sunni's, and perhaps the Kurds excluded.

It is becoming such a nightmare to know which is the right way and which is the wrong way to go except to say, anything that gives Iran and Syria an advantage, is absolutely the wrong way to go !

Bush isn't trying to win, just occupy. If we wanted to win why not just send the forces to go do it? We've never had enough troops on the ground to establish security.
Why? Flytrap theory, draw the terorist to Iraq and fight them there; Oil, we could use the reserves considering we're running low; or creating a war to rejuvinate a military supply chain neglected after the cold war. I believe haliburton alone has over 60 percent of the contracts over there. And there are billions unaccounted for. So start accounting.
Plus how do you fight terrorist with a nuclear sub(one of the new purchases for the war on terror)?

To extend the war means more money in the pocket of those profiting from the dead bodies of our solders. That is exactly why we are still there and why George Bush plans to go into Iran. He cares very little of the consequences of that move.

How do you admit defeat of an occupation? Nutjob.

Your spot on with your commentary. The only folks that know why were still there are the one's cashing the checks because of this war.

My personal opinion is that to withdraw troops would be an admission of defeat, and we can't accept that. Johnson knew we couldn't win in Vietnam back in 1965, and we stayed until 1973. Pride and arrogance prevented him from doing the right thing.
