is trans fat and no cholestrol the same thing? when you see it on packages of food. one will say no cholestrol or no trans fat are they the same, i have to lower my cholestrol and my boyfriend says we'll get things that say non trans fat and i need to know thanks

definetly not the same. not eating trans fats are easy, just don't eat that much processed food. trans fats are found in chips, cookies, crackers, snack cakes, etc. "hiding" from cholesterol is impossible. it's in all animal proteins and many plants in small quantities. your Dr. should have told you that increasing your soluble fiber intake to 30 grams a day will help to lower your total cholesterol values while increasing the intake of unsaturated fats will help to increase the HDL-C:LDL-C ratio, which is actually more important for long term health then the total cholesterol value.
