Enlightenment, for me, is knowing the nature of the Divine. By knowing the nature of the Divine, you know the nature of everything. I have met people who are very close to that state, but no one who has definitively reached it.

Enlightenment in my opinion is the exposure of knowledge in some area; self-realization/spiritual knowledge, knowledge of other sources in life and other areas. It would depend how in depth you would like to get re guarding your questions. Below is some information I found off the net and I agree with part but not all of the statement. In my search for self-realization/spiritual knowledge and enlightenment I began by practicing meditation unknowingly at age four then knowingly fifteen years ago. I have gained much through this practice and more so called enlightenment in some cases than I thought I would gain. The mind is a powerful tool and depending what type of enlightenment you are seeking, meditation is a tool and holds the key to unlocking many doors in our lives.

What is Enlightenment?
an Interview with His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
by UCLA Reporter Rachel Kelly

Maharishi: ‘Enlightenment’ means lack of darkness, absence of darkness. And ‘absence of darkness’ means no mistake, no weakness, no shortcoming—success everywhere, fulfillment of desire everywhere—that is enlightenment. One is living in full accord with Natural Law. Spontaneously Nature is supporting us: then we are not in the dark about anything.

If you see Buddha on your path to enlightenment, kill him! This is a famous Buddhist quote which means, not one other person can possibly be more or less enlightened than another. and if you think someone Else is , you should forget them and get on with your own learning. For we all have the potential within to be just as wise and enlightened as Jesus, Buddha, Mahmud etc.

I have heard not one of my steps leads away from it. True words. I would say knowing myself as I am. There are no others. I am alone inside and outside of the cosmos. Or maybe knowing the Sacred Gospel of the Mud Puddle, you know the one, where Heaven and Earth meet, where Angels peer out of happy eyes upon earth covered faces.........................Ahhhhh.
