In a right triangle the square of the measure of the hypotenuse is equal to the the sum of the squares of the measures of the legs.

Trinity: The Father is equal to the Son is equal to the Holy Ghost, separate persona (hypostases) and same substance (ousia) - co-eternals, co-equals, without any difference of inequality.

I'll assume you're talking about pythagorean philosophy, not the right-angled-triangle thing:

Pythagorean philosophy was a school of thought founded by Pythagoras, who was an influential philosopher as well as a geometrist. At the time geometry was considered a branch of philosophy.

Pythagorean basic concepts included the idea that the material world was illusory, and that a 'higher' truth existed, and that the soul was immortal, and was tempoarily trapped in a human body for a short while. Before and after life, they believed the soul to exist on the higher plane. Pythagoreans had a large effect upon Plato.

Hope this helps.

Just because the pythagoreans came up with it doesn't mean it's religious. Infact, it has nothing to do with religion for it works with triangles!
