Possibly in the past, if they contained the colouring tartrazine - but I thought it was banned now. Its also called E102.

Further research suggests its not banned any more !
I checked my birdseye haddock fish fingers - they have natural colouring agents.

Well obviously nowadays anything causes hyperactivity in children, adults etc, when the people responsible for them can't be bothered to take care of them.I'll tell you what stop's hyperactivity from beginning, albeit a simple cure it is called a slap (abb = Stops Lots And Playing up.)It's a pity it is not used more nowadays on children or the parents. After all lets face
it, there is always a scapegoat for the blame.

If the crumb has colouring such as tartrazine, it's possible, but there was a TV programme on TV recently where they tested different food on children & they found it was other stimuli that caused hyperactivity, not the food they were given. If your child has been diagnosed with attention deficit disorder, Asperger Syndrome or autism, you might need to be careful what they eat, but the occasional fish finger probably won't hurt most children.

Unlikely, recent research has shown that even high sugar foods do not cause hyperactivity. The hyperactivity we usually associate with sugar is actually caused by over excitement in the child due to the situation (party, cinema, friends etc)

the first person to answere this got it right, its not the fish fingers it the additives and little extras you find in small writing on the back of the pack, fish fingers are good in moderation for kids if you find some that don't contain all the nasty chemicals, hope that helps

Any starch products can cause hyperactivity. Fries, fried chicken and anything else with breading.

Probably, wheat products send my son hyper and fishfingers have wheat.
Actually you'd be stunned how much stuff has wheat in it
If in doubt keep a food diary - write down everything they eat and when they go hyper
look for a pattern

Possibly if colourants are used to produce the colour of the coating, but you can, I am sure get them with natural breadcrumbs. I would stay clear of anything artificial etc.

Yah, you gotta watch them fishies. Specially when they sneak up behind unuspecting kids and start tickling them with their little fishy fingers. That gets the kids all wound up.
