A very light "toot" after the count of three, no need to lay on the horn like there is no tomorrow, who knows, they might have stalled.

You can see if it is an airhead yapping on their cell phone, in that case, honk immediately. LOL

Watch out for creeps in traffic, if they follow you, go to the police station, that usually shakes them off. Be careful.

When the light turns green, I wait about 5 seconds, and then I beep my horn by just giving it a tap. However, I know a lady that lays her hand on the horn until the person starts moving (I feel like that is rude)

At least 5 seconds.

Beware, you never know what kind of day they are having. They could have just found out a loved one died, or they could be in an incredibly foul mood, looking for an excuse to hurt someone.

I've found that I don't mind (too much) waiting for the light to cycle around once more before i honk. I've had a bad experience with honking at lights.

10 is way too long. Id say beep after a couple of seconds. If that dont work lay on the horn.

About 5 secconds. I say 5 because I was stopped at green light to look for some thing once. And the people behind me started honking. About the time I would be passing a specific spot in the intersection, a Camero, with several cop cars close behind came flying through the intersection at that spot, struck a median and ejected the driver killing him. He was going about 120MPH and if I had not stopped, he would have hit me.

Haven't actually counted, but let's see.....3-4 seconds. I also watch to see what they're doing - if they're daydreaming, that time frame is good. If they're frantically doing something, I might give them an extra second or two.

But it's just a quick honk. I'm never in that big a hurry to get anywhere. And since I'm so prone to road rage, I try very hard to always remain calm when I'm driving.

I always wait around 5 seconds and then give a very light,.
friendly three beeps with a little wave in case they're looking
in the rear view mirror. If they don't go then, get out and
check their pulse.

10-15 seconds - not 2 seconds.

I go by the three-second rule. Not to be rude, but just a quick beep to get their attention.

unfortunatley, I give them the benefit of the doubt. I count to 5 and give them a single beep. sometimes I get fingered, but oh well. Were all guilty somewhere down the line
