With racism in Europe and around the world increasing and the neo- nazis on the terraces at football why are they so short of soldiers. Why call for conscription, shouldn't there be enough volunteers?

I like yeo's answer. It wasn't europe's mistake. but the neo-nazis of the world are united, supposedly. Why not ask the African countries for help then. They'd probably join the middle east against the west.

The reason that Europe is afraid to send its soldiers to the Middle East is because so much of Europe's population consists of Middle Eastern Muslim immigrants.

They're afraid of provoking terrorism and civil unrest within their own borders.

The reason Europe don't want to get involved is simple, there was a UN mandate not to go into Iraq which America and ourselves took no notice of. Europe realised the effect the invasion would have on the western community, Europe also remembered what happened to Russia when they went into Afghanistan, the exact problems the allies are having today: loss of life; cost of operations and political unstability overflowing into participating states internal affairs.
Many of you have differing political views but just before the Iraq war I attended the 'Long March' to protest against the war. On this march were representatives from old Labour, Conservatives,
BNP, UKIP, Liberals and several other minor parties. The point I am trying to make is we were one party for one day all with the same objective ''to prevent a catastrophe'' which we were unsuccessful. European politicians however knew better than make a mistake of a forgone conclusion that we would fail to subvert a nation such as Iraq.

regardless of the certainty that i do no longer trust all your factors, that's an thrilling and nicely theory out question. The Russians are sturdy at saber damn, yet they do no longer project me as a lot by way of fact the chinese language. The Russians are no longer suicidal, and don't have a huge sufficient inhabitants to combat the US. Their protection rigidity isn't in very sturdy shape, so something bigger the the cutting-edge conflict in Georgia might heavily stretch their supplies. The chinese language, besides the incontrovertible fact that, have been spending huge quantities of money, a lot of which comes from the US (made in China), build up their protection rigidity these days. It heavily concerns many protection rigidity experts. The chinese language, with a inhabitants of over one billion, can arise with the money for dropping thousands and thousands of human beings in a warfare, and their government unquestionably has no regard for human existence. i'm greater in contact approximately them invading Taiwan, and sparking a close-by or worldwide warfare.

Nobody is afraid to send troops in. For instance Germany has openly admitted that they have been involved in two major wars in the past 100 years and in both they were for the wrong cause.

Germany does not see a reason to get involved in another possible war which might just be for the wrong cause.

The rest of Europe disagrees with what U.S. is doing in the middle east, why in the right mid would they send in their troops for a cuse they do not support 100%

Just so you know many European countries have troops in the Middle East supporting the U.S. as their ally not necessarily supporting the war U.S. is fighting.

The major help in the Middle East for the U.S. is British forces, and some smaller European countries which are currently under command of Polish military.

Look at the link I supplied there are many countries helping out specially in Iraq.

It has nothing to do with fear.

It is a concern that Bush does seem to want attack every other country. Most of us feel he has lost the plot and wants to attack every other country.

Most of us think the war in Iraq is wrong and we should never have been involved. Bush doesn't know how to run a war which is why Iraq is a mess.

We don't have any reason to go to war with the middle east.
We do have a problem with SOME so called muslims in the UK who are intent on violence here.

There may come a time when we have to go to war against the US for unlawful invasion of other countries and violations of UN regulations.

The only thing the Europeans are afraid of is another World War created by self serving American industrialists who have no conscience about death and destruction as long as they secure the future of American hegemony.
The number of civilians killed in war zones around the world created by American foreign policy since the last world war exceeds the numbers killed in both world wars.
People fear America because she is the most violent and destructive nation on this planet at the present time.
The Europeans wash their hands of Great Britain since the day its government lost all credibility as a professional political force in European affairs when it lied to the British public about Iraq.
The British people are absolutely disgusted with a government that goes against the wishes of its electorate almost on every matter of national importance but they will have their day when the war in Afghanistan turns against them and the Army Chiefs refuse to co-operate with Whitehall mandarins.
After our hard earnt taxes have been waisted in the MIddle East, the army withdraws with their tail between their legs, and the Taliban flow back into Afghanistan from over the border, the British people, along with our European partners, will celebrate watching the Government having to eat humble pie and admit they got it completely wrong.
But I predict the Government will probably insult the electorate with platitudes and rhetoric about heroism and dig a bigger hole for themselves in terms of tax returns. The more they insult the public the greater the number of dissenters and the disaffected who feel unable to justify paying their taxes in full to a public servant who ignores the employer.

They didn't go into iraq because the only crime against the US that Saddam committed was selling his oil in Euros and that actually helped strengthen European trade and their currency. €1 now buy $1.3. Iran are doing exactly the same thing having set up an Oil Börse for Euro trading in late 2006. This is why the US is itching to invade and again this trading of oil in Euros strengthens Europes economic hand.

The middle east has to sort out it's own problems.
The US has no business there and no matter what cannot
affect the outcome.
The middle east's biggest problem is how to join modernity;
which they want to do even though they will probably not admit
it; but this cannot be done overnight.
So the turmoil continues fueled by malcontents.

Guncrazy overstates the case, but he has a point. America can invent a so-called 'War on Terrorism' because the threat of terrorism is so distant. European states, however, are caught in the middle because their own Muslim minorities are potentially radicalised by this kind of sabre-rattling. Britain and Spain (and to some extent Australia) have learnt to their cost that signing up to US aggression in the Middle East has serious repercussions for their own citizens, in the form of violence *from* their own citizens. This is simply not a problem America faces, and frankly not one that I think Americans understand.
