i am really shy when it comes to meeting people...how can i be the first one to talk to someone i havent ever met or dont know well at all...like i need tips on how to go up to them and start a conversation and keep it going...points to the best answer...im desperate.i hate being shy but dont know how to fix it.

1 - Say hi what's happening...
2 - Ask them how they're doing
3 - Ask them if they heard about something that happened at school or work - a funny event or an interesting one...
4 - Ask questions...people like to talk about themselves and will do a lot of talking for you so if you're shy that helps the conversation
5 - Before you talk to someone think about what things you are interested in and be ready to explain about them - music, movies, fashion - whatever, why do you like or dislike something
6 - Find some jokes to tell, preferably story jokes

I have the exact same problem, and i get so frustarted with myself. and i hate being so shy. so i know how u feel
what i try to do is try to set goals everyday. like goin up to sumone and sayin hey whats up? or hows it goin? after a while it will be easy to just go up to someone and say hi. when u tlak to someone whats the worst that can happen when ur trying to be nice right?

just start talking about whatever like it's nothing. It will be terrifying at first but the more you do it the more at ease you will feel, it will be like you're practicing until it doesn't bother you. Don't feel like an idiot after doing it, even if it doesn't go well, it's practice. Fake that you're not uncomfortable or it will show and then they will feel awkward about you going up to them. Relax, be yourself, they're just people like you are, they aren't any better than you.

i got the same problem girl!! maybe start with a simple question like what time is it.. and then pick it up from there?
i give people advice but i cant follow it myself! i hate it. good luck anyways!!!
just remember you dont have to "fix" it, theres nothing wrong with being shy
