This question has been repeatedly asked and answered, but I'll repeat my take on it: This forum is to discuss religion, both its assets and its flaws. You are not going to get much coherent discussion of the flaws unless the atheists are participating. As for why we do so, it is for the same reason as the believers: we believe that we have found something which is beneficial, and out of a sense of charity wish to spread it for the benefit of all. But the atheists make a better case than the religious, because they can prove it.

I do believe they should have their own section - since they profess that they are not spiritual or religious.
However, they may come respectfully on R &S to inquire of serious questions concerning spirituality if they really want answers. However, most come to be annoying and try to stir up trouble on here.

I respect people's choice to be an atheist; but I don't respect those that belittle my faith choice (Christianity) just to be funny or difficult..

You know, if you search the resolved questions category you'll get plenty of different opinions as this question is asked pretty much daily. Instead of having people keep retyping out the answer to this why don't you do some research there.

Because atheism is as much a faith as religion, and because people who define themselves as atheist often have an interest in religion, especially the refuting part. Also, there's no atheism section. And they like annoying fundamentalists.

"They " say that they are spiritual, but go figure, I think that they are lonely, and that they come here to see if by some miracle someone will actually say something that may just make sense to them. I usually tell them this:

JESUS: I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No man comes to the Father but by Me."

"Hear O Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord is One"

(Shema Israel Adonai Elohim Adonai ehad)

Because atheists are spiritual too, and some are ex chrsitians trying to open minds, although some atheists come off as extreme as christian fundies.

Jehovah God created in all of us the inclination to worship. So maybe their curious or their conscience is bothering them.
Proverbs 1:22 “How long will YOU inexperienced ones keep loving inexperience, and [how long] must YOU ridiculers desire for yourselves outright ridicule, and [how long] will YOU stupid ones keep hating knowledge? 23 Turn back at my reproof. Then to YOU I will cause my spirit to bubble forth; I will make my words known to YOU. 24 Because I have called out but YOU keep refusing, I have stretched out my hand but there is no one paying attention, 25 and YOU keep neglecting all my counsel, and my reproof YOU have not accepted, 26 I also, for my part, shall laugh at YOUR own disaster, I shall mock when what YOU dread comes, 27 when what YOU dread comes just like a storm, and YOUR own disaster gets here just like a storm wind, when distress and hard times come upon YOU. 28 At that time they will keep calling me, but I shall not answer; they will keep looking for me, but they will not find me, 29 for the reason that they hated knowledge, and the fear of Jehovah they did not choose. 30 They did not consent to my counsel; they disrespected all my reproof. 31 So they will eat from the fruitage of their way, and they will be glutted with their own counsels. 32 For the renegading of the inexperienced ones is what will kill them, and the easygoingness of the stupid is what will destroy them. 33 As for the one listening to me, he will reside in security and be undisturbed from dread of calamity.”

I am interested in learning more of the "other side" of the debate and discussing religion with others who may or may not share my views. I just find it interesting here.
