Most brand name de-wormers are considered safe. But they are broad spectrum and may not go after the specific type of worm that your dog has. You might want to take a feces sample to your vet and see if it did indeed kill the worms.
As far a killing someone's dog...I've never heard of it happening. I have heard of people assuming that they know what is wrong with their dog, giving the animal a de-wormer instead of getting the right medication from the vet, and then the animal dies of what they really have and the de-worming product gets the blame.

All of my animals react negitavely to all Hartz products. I stopped using them years ago, but I've never heard of the products linked with death. Vets have much better medication, and much safer.
I wouldn't worry about you pet dying. But I wouldn't use store bought medications--even the Hartz shampoo causes allergic reactions in my dogs and cats. And the fleas collar left a bald ring around my cats neck! All are well now. Just please inform friends of the danger in Hartz products.

Hartz dewormer will most likely not harm your dog, but it also won't kill any worms. Basically, it is took weak and crappy of a drug to actually deworm anything. You need to get a prescription dewormer from a veterinarian's office to deworm your dog.
Worms can not only cause health problems for your dog, but some species, such as roundworms, are transmissable to people. Roundworms are the second leading cause of blindness in children.

I trust a prior poster that pronounced it could count on the dogs and his or her reaction to the medicine. I incredibly have used Hartz (topical flea and shampoos) on my cats and dogs for extremely some time now and have under no circumstances had any kind of reaction to it (different than a favorable one like it removing the fleas). working a rescue team, I manage everywhere from 5 to twenty animals in line with month with Hartz and have yet to have any issues of any of them. i think of the biggest concern is that folk think of they can provide their 20 lb dogs a dose made for a 40lb dogs and it will kill the fleas two times as quickly. yet it fairly is under no circumstances the case and is maximum generally the reason of ailment and/or reaction. yet definite.....flea drugs (be them topical, oral, spray or shampoo) are a minor dose of insecticides and those could be probably risky if used incorrectly. AND playstation : "Greenies" dogs and cat treats (those green the tooth-brush formed chew bones) comprise 25% of undigestable products. So do in no way provide those on your puppy the two.
