One of my friends has been getting a lot of IM's from random people claiming to be from Ghana, nigeria, india etc. She always politely responds and talks to them. Then they all end up harassing her to send her photo, webcam and they claim to love her and when she says no they call her names and say shes a hateful person. She has blocked them all but as this happened to anyone else?

This and other variations on a theme, including letters asking for your help to get money out of their country, saving them from.....whatever.... are very common indeed. She should not encourage the interaction.
Shut it down immediately before the abuse starts.
There are con artists all over the world.
And some of these people can be very dangerous!

Do not talk to them. I learned my lesson. There are some nice people that will randomly talk to you, i have met 3 people that way. But i have gotten some real perverts. I block them right away. They will ask things about sex and what not...and lots of personal questions. I've gotten some from all over the world*so they claim* and from the States. And like they do to her, they start calling me names, because i won't turn on my cam for just anyone, just my friends, but normally i won't for anyone.

I NEVER respond to IMs from people that are not on my list. When I get random ones I block them right away. These people are rude and crass. Make note of their user name and report them.

you should immeddialtey report this to your IM service or take precautions when going online. You should delete that account and create a new one with a different service. Trust me these people are scammers and rapists..I am dead serious. If he or she is experiencing abuse on the IM service report it and immediaetly take action by saving the im log and showing it to the IM service. I hope I have helped in my ways.

Yes, it's happened to me before. I just block them. There's really nothing else you can do other then make it so that only your friends can message you.
