I am a high school senior going to Spain in a few weeks for an exchange trip. I am definitely on the bigger side.. wearing a size 20.. but I am 5'10" also.. I'm just worried that I'll be totally embarassed because of my size. I know, I know, I should just be myself.. but in reality, will i be sticking out like a sore thumb?

Its the plane that will be a problem, small seats. You will be spilling over into the next persons seat. Not your fault, but inevitable. Good luck

No need to be worried. I was afraid of that when I went to Spain, too. But like the person above said, there are people of all shapes of sizes in Spain. I saw plenty of tiny people and plenty of plus-sized people, and at least in the highschool where I saw them, they seemed happy with each other. Don't be surprised if you hear someone refer to their heavy family member with "gordita" (which translates to "butterball"), it's just an affectionate term.

People eat a lot there, at least in La Coruna where I was. Everything was smothered in chocolate. My host family made me chocolate/nutella sandwiches.

I would imagine that there are people of all sizes in Spain, just as there are anywhere else. Just go, enjoy your trip, and don't worry about what anybody but YOU thinks.

If it makes you feel any better, they are used to larger sizes as there are so many brits over there and many of them are larger. Don't worry about it.
