Please read this!I was put on Zoloft after I had my first bub.(postnatal depression).
It worked wonderfully! I came off it after about 8 months. A few months later I had a really bad stomach bug and got really sick. I also got really depressed again and had really awful panic and anxiety attacks. I went back on Zoloft and never looked back. I've just had another baby and I was still taking 150mg! I'm fine and so is my baby. Depression and anxiety is a terrible thing and I wouldn't wish it on my worse enemy!!
At first I worried about the implications of being on it and my doctor reassured me (and I've since learnt in myself) that it is perfectly safe and the implications of NOT being on it are far worse. If it hadn't of been for the medication I don't know what I would've done. You owe it to yourself and your family to try medication if you have to. It's nothing to be scared of and nothing to be ashamed of either. I'd rather be mentally well and be there for my family and friends,(and myself). It's awful feeling depressed but it's awfully hard for family and friends to see you go through it also.
If you decide to go on it just take one day at a time. It won't work overnight but over the days and weeks you'll gradually feel "normal" again. Suddenly you'll wake up and think "hey,I've been having some really good days"
Also don't worry about the side affects. Obviously everyone is different but the affects WON"T last and your body will get used to the tablets. They won't make you "high",they just help you feel normal. Most depression is caused by not enough seratonin in your brain. Most antedepressants just put it back. Like taking insulin if you are diabetic!
Best of Luck! Don't let depression rule your life!!!There IS a light at the end of the dark tunnel. You don't have to suffer. Take it from someone who's been there !!

I took Zoloft for my depression and anxiety. At first it helped, and I continued to take it for almost 2 years. Once the dose got to 150 mg (a friend was killed in a car accident one September and caused my depression to get worse, even while I was taking Zoloft, which is why it was bumped up to 150), it didn't help anymore. So I quit taking it.

That stuff is really bad for you.

Take 6,000mg of Vitamin C a day, abscorbic acid.

Understand that suffering is part of life. The whole concept of being happy and living like a Disney character is bunk.

Nutrition. Spirit. Support. - Those are the key things.

I work with lots of people on anti-depressants...and it's really sad. You can see a gloss in their eyes, and they are zoned-out in life. It's horrible.

I'd rather be in misery than be numb.

I started taking it for Post-partum depression after losing my baby girl in Aug and I noticed a difference about a week later. I realized after I noticed the change that I had actually been depressed for years. I ran out of my prescription for a couple of days and really noticed a difference.

I know of people that have been using it but it has side effects and it creates addiction so I would not suggest it...
