It's an organised religion, and as such is intrinsically flawed. But I don't believe that it is responsible for the disgusting behaviour of some of its followers.

I think all religious traditions, because their source is usually from a very different, ancient socio-historical reality, have issues finding cohesion in modern society. Thus, Christians went through the growing pains of the Enlightenment. This is but one example. Islamic Theology, unfortunately, is stuck in the Dark Ages, or as it is called in the Muslim World, the Golden Age of Islam. Think about Christianity prior to the 1500's. The Devil and evil spirits, witches, magical payments to gain access to heaven, widespread abuses because each community did what they saw theologically fit, no concept of human rights, people killed for apostasy and heresy. This is the face of Islam today, no matter how much the Western Media tries to push the idea of the "Moderate Muslim." There is NO Modern Movement of Muslim Theological Thought. Check out Jihad watch. Sorry to be so blunt. It's just that, theologically, this is the truth, and once Islam undergoes their "Enlightenment" like other modern religious movements, it will be as inspirational, positive and life-giving as Christianity at it's very, very best. Or Atheism, for that matter!

I know that this is not a simple question that its been asked from u and u don't expect people say its good or bad. Islam is a religion as all other religions in the world and u have to respect that.
But asking this question your going to relate with the Islam terrorist and that makes normally people say that Islam is bad or even worst words that are not appropriate to say for a religion.
One thing i can say for those who think like that - the Islam terrorist that kill Innocent people in the name of Alah or god they are not muslims - they have been brain washed from the day that are born thats all i have to say for now

Islam is a great and peaceful religion. It is misunderstood through the media but still is converting thousands of people nonetheless. You don't really know what 'Islam is until u really learn and read up on it so ppl who judge it on the surface are missing out.

My name is Ahad Ahmed im a regular kid that goes to some private school back down in O-Town (orlando-Windermere). Im a muslim. I think Islam is a great religion and is often misunderstood. But no doubt Islam is the kewlest because it requires self-discipline and an open mind. I dont think Islam is abusive to women. I dont think its oppresive and all of us are not TERRORISTS.

GOD Laws are made of three Books: The Old Testament, The new Testament and Quran as a conclusion all originated from the middle east. How can you understand GOD LAWS with out reading GOD Conclusion?
"Say: we believe in God and in what has been revealed to us, and what was revealed to Abraham, Isma'il: Isaac, Jacob and The Tribes, and in (the Books) given to Moses, Jesus and the Prophets, from their Lord: We make no distinction between one and another, among them, and to God do we bow our will (in Islam)." I think that it is misrepresented by the modern media and has been tarnished by the actions of terrorists.
Other than that, I know very little about Islam. I really do need to read up on it someday.

I judge Islam by the actions of its followers because Islam only exists in its followers. Most conflict today involves Muslims, and Muslims have historically beeen very violent. So I must conclude Islam itself is a terrible affliction on humanity.

well Islam is my religion the one i love and follow its the most beauitiful religion if you dont actually judge it by what a few do Islam is truly the religion for me

I am still learning about it. What I have learned is that it is not as violent as many people insist it is. Most of the Muslims I have met online are great people which are very open about their religion. They do not hide from my questions and usually give great answers.

The basic book is OK. It is all the add ons that bother me. Thousands of Mulahs twisting the beliefs to suit their particular agendas.
