I come from Australia so that is not exactly true....control of our borders is always within our hands. However, our governments are subject to International agreements. One of them is the U.N Convention for Refugees, in which we must provide aid and support to people who fall under the definition of being a refugee..

The laws are not always fair - especially for those people who want to enter our countries who are not refugees or illegal migrants and who have skills and just want to work and enjoy the freedoms that we do, and not take them for granted.

In Australia, the government provides support for new migrants. But of course the problem will always be when these people stop being burdens to the social security system - and therefore the tax payer, and will start getting jobs. Of course the moment they do get jobs companies are accused of filling jobs with low wage migrants who do not belong to unions.

Unfortuntaely my friend it is the responsibility of me and you and our fellow tax payers to say to our governments that we expect new migrants to obey the laws, or the governments put tougher laws in place. An on-going battle....
