From Windows XP I created two partitions from one hard drive. On the newly-created partition I installed Windows Vista. I am now using Windows Vista and wish to remove XP from the other partition and merge them back together. How should I do this?

wipe and reinstall

some utils allow you to create a 1 meg boot drive, but 1 will have to remain in order for the current system to work.

(it'll expand the vista partition and make the XP one smaller)

DO NOT wipe everything from the XP partition!

You may be able to try using this method reducing the size of the first partition to 0, but may have to (most likely) run the repair function on Vista.

Good luck!

I see you haven't seen all the complaints...
1) Third party drivers/apps are not allowed unless “approved” by Microsoft. Some of your favorite software won't run on Vista because the drivers have not been "approved" by Microsoft. This also means that the digital camera you just bought may not be "allowed" to connect to the PC.
2) ALL media copied thru Vista is SERIOUSLY degraded. The mp3s that you rip, are not allowed to be full quality. Same with DVD's.
Personally, if XP ever goes out of support, I'm going Linux

From what I hear Vista still has a lot of bugs . I would hang on to xp in case your not a happy camper with Vista.
