the doll-faced, sensual dolls marketed towards pre-ads. How do they affect a girl's esteem?

these dolls are prorated with a bad attitude at all times. they make girls think that they should always get what they want, and that it is OK to always pout if they don't get their way. these dolls are nothing but trash and should be treated as such. My parents will never let my sister have one, and I will never let my kids have one (or any thing like it). these dolls are immoral, sensual (promote underage s_x), and unrealistically thin. girls think that they need to have the body of these dolls and that is NOT POSSIBLE.

Yes and no, I suppose. I think that they're pretty degrading, actually. I don't believe that they'd really lower a girl's self-esteem--it'd just encourage the small one to get ideas about 'fashion' and how they should act. The Bratz dolls are applying gallons of make-up on, and I heard from my Health teacher (Since he has a daughter) that his daughter's Bratz doll has a g-string.

So I think it's just a bad influence, overall. The show, not to mention, also mocks my intelligence...

I think they definately put forth an image that girls who are young enough to be playing with dolls are way too young to be exposed to. They have on tons of makeup and bedroom eyes and they dress provacatively. They're worse than Barbie! Plus--they are called Bratz for crying out loud. Little girls will be proud to be called brats.

I thoroughly agree. And now Mattel is doing their acceptable to regulate the Barbie line to mirror and compete with the acceptance of Bratz. an entire technology of skanks are being raised and this is disgusting. it variety of looks like we are education our women to paintings the corners from an early age. Even the variety for women is getting further and extra revealing. don't get me incorrect, I even have actively participated in shows like Rocky Horror so this is no longer me being a prude. this is basically a disgusting trend in our progressively greater public custom. a minimum of the previous Barbies had physician and criminal expert variants for slightly place modeling...

The fact is that when children play with these, they are learning to accept characters who swear (sometimes), who wear heavy makeup as children/teens, and who dress VERY provacatively as normal, as "okay".

It makes me so sad when people say "it's no big deal, lighten up" because we should not be sending messages to our girls that these dolls are representative of acceptable dress/behavior for them.

How I yearn for a size 12-14 Barbie with no makeup, just jeans and a t-shirt (that covers her belly), holding a book. I'm so sick of explaining to my kid why she can't play with these hoochie dolls!

I am completely anti-bratz dolls. They create a unrealistic way girls should act. Atleast barbie wasnt slutty looking. I mean the baby brats...wear thongs!!! It is horrible and children should not be introduced to it.

Ive heard this crap-its silly. My 9 year old girl has all sorts of them, my nieces have a bunch as well. They are all fine-average little girls. They arent getting into trouble-get good grades in school and dont dress like Bratz dolls.
Ignore the talking heads on TV, they have no clue about being a parent because most of them arent parents.

I think it's like most things in parenting, as long as you feel your child isn't being influenced in a negative way, and you talk about it and listen to what your child has to say, then you are probably fine. My daughter loves to play with those little bobble head animals, but that doesn't mean she thinks she's going to grow up to have 100 different animals all about the house sliding down slides and going 'round merry go rounds. All with bobbling heads no less.

When I was a kid I didn't want to look like Barbie. I didn't care what TV stars and musicians looed like. If you want your daughter to have a healthy body image you need to teach her how to do that. Parents who belittle their children and mothers who don't eat beacuse they don't want to be fat are the problem. Bratz dolls are nothing but a toy unless you make more out of them.

bratz dolls are harmful to little girls because the bratz heads pursue little girls to want big heads and small bodies which they cannot get it also shows it's figure/body parts like the dolls boobs and butt and i've never liked that. bratz should go out of business! I HATE HOW LITTLE GIRLS LIKE BRATZ
