It's perfectly normal. Your mouth will get used to the feel of them and within a short amount of time, you'll naturally figure out how to adjust your mouth movements when talking or eating.

Something to consider trying in the mean time is brace wax/gum. You can buy it at any local retail store in the dental section. It's in a tiny square snap box and should contain 4 strips of the wax material. Just pinch a bit off and mold it around the part of your braces that comes in contact with the sore area of your mouth.

It's really cheap and works well. I had braces for 2 1/2 years, so I sympathize with you! Good luck!

I got my braces on 6 months ago and I get cuts, too.

Wax does help, a lot.
Apply wax over the brace(s) that hurt. Don't hesitate to use a lot, most of the time, wax is only used the first two weeks you get braces. If you need any more, just let your orthodontist know.
Eat soft foods, like soup and ice cream.

It will usually feel better about a week later.

Good Luck!

Yes, this is totally normal, unfortunately. Braces can be sharp! But your dental should have given you some dental wax. You put the wax right over the part of your braces that is scraping against your cheek, and suddenly you won't feel it anymore.

Yes this is normal but your orthodontist should of givin you wax to put on your braces. If you don't have any go to a drug store and get some. And for your cuts rinse with salt water every night it'll help them heal.

Its very normal for this to happen, it just takes time for the braces to get used to your mouth! Don't worry give it a few weeks and if your still worried tell your dentist

they will cut your mouth up until your tissue firms, that will happen in time, if there are some areas that are more bothersome, your dentist can give you some wax to put over the braces, in those areas

wax. i know it sounds really disgusting, but it works wonders. I used it on my braces and it helped soo much. you can get it from your orthodontist-usually for free.
