I have an infection under a tooth I had a root canal on about 15 years ago. Dentist is sending me to an endodontist to see about getting a retreat root canal - meaning a root canal on a tooth that already had a root canal done to it.

Anyone have this done? I've done some research on the internet and doesn't look fun :) Your advice and/or suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.

the easy answer isn't any. Root canals are generally performed to alleviate an abscessed situation of a undeniable the tooth which replaced into brought about by potential of any of numerous motives. through fact the abscess will impression the completed section around the the tooth, to confirm a useful technique the completed root shape must be taken care of. in spite of shape the term root canal, in spite of the reality that root canal is a novel term, refers to each and all of the roots of the the tooth. in many cases speaking, a number of our tooth have extra beneficial than one root (i.e. molars) yet whilst a root canal is done, in spite of the kind of roots, the dentist will, in one consultation, do away with the nerve tissue from each and each individual root and whilst finished will completely seal everyone. as quickly as this technique has been finished it could be all yet impossible to open those sealed canals lower back for any reason.
