I owe a creditor . They are collecting for a Bally's membership. The whole thing is a mess. I have 2 memberships now. This collector summonsed me, settled out of court to pay. Can they place another judgement?? I haven't been able to pay much of it in the past year and a half. The people are very nasty when you call to talk to them.

If a judgement is placed against you for a debt, what does it mean?? Do they issue a warrant if it isn;t paid??

If unpaid it'll show on your credit report and will have to be settled before taking out any type of large loan (like a mortgage, refinance, etc.) If you settled (and you have a document saying all debt is paid and / or forgiven) then its done. If you made a partial payment, then it's not settled and the remaining debt can be sold to another agency who can add interest (I think 8% a year) and start harassing you for payment.

As far as garnishing your wages, that varies from state to state.

No, they won't issue a warrant. If they already have a judgment against you, all they can do next is garnish your wages or go as far as put a lien on any property you might own...like a house. They can actually seize and sell that property. If you have a bank account, they can seize the money in your account as well. If you don't own a bank account, any property or are not working, there's nothing further that they can do.

advantageous. What you do is pay your debt. Then your license is restored. You lost your spectacular to force via fact which you have been at fault in an twist of destiny, did no longer have assurance (or inadequate assurance), and due to that, somebody else suffered. Why might you think of you're able to ever should force returned?

If they have a judgment? They can garnish your wages, attach bank accounts or property if there is a lien on it.

It will show on your credit for 7-years after the judgment is issued.

I think that they can take from your pay check each week and maybe even get part of your tax return if you have one.
