I am a devout Christian, I chose my faith shortly after my dad died.
I sunk into depression and found a church. I shared with them my sorrow and i prayed the Sinners Prayer and accepted Jesus into my heart.

Because of the religious hatred and bigotry about Islam, i made a choice to learn about all faiths. Even traditional faiths of my own tribe (Cherokee), Buddhist, Wicca, Jehova Witness, Judaism. And now I feel its time to learn about Islam. I have some questions.

Ive read lately that many muslims believe that Jesus is a prophet of God.

Also that some muslims believe that Jesus in fact will return, like all Christians.

That Islam means: Peace.

Are these statements true?

Also, I have made a career choice to becoming a fire fighter after the heroics of 9/11. What are your thoughts and oppinions on terrorism.
What do you think of the state of Israel? and Iran's nuclear program?
What do you think of Jews and Christians, the USA, athiests?

Thank you for your time.

:"Say: we believe in God and in what has been revealed to us, and what was revealed to Abraham, Isma'il: Isaac, Jacob and The Tribes, and in (the Books) given to Moses, Jesus and the Prophets, from their Lord: We make no distinction between one and another, among them, and to God do we bow our will (in Islam)." (Qur'an, Al-Imran 3:84)

What do you think o this verse?

I'm glad that you have taken this step. At 14, I became tired of hearing all of the racist crap from all sides, so I also chose to study all religion. Personally, I chose Islam because of the scientific facts in it and the common sense. But that's me, please don't take it as a push or anything towards anyway.

1. We believe he is a Prophet (PBUH) of God and that his birth was a show of God's power, not a claim of birthright.

2. Yes, we do, along with Muhammad (PBUH) because both were the most miraculous of all prophets. We respect all ofthem and hold them on the same level of respect, but these two were dealt with pesonally by God.

3. Islam means Peace, yes. It's the extremists who have twisted it to fit their agendas that give the display of hatred.

4. Yes, these statements are true.

I think your choice on becoming a firefighter is very good!! Praises be to God, you will be saving lives in doing so. Saving lives is great, and Islam says that one who saves the life of a person is like one who has saved all of mankind. You will get many rewards for this whether you be Christian or Muslim. Good luck on your journey!! :)

There is a lot of ground to cover here. Islam means "submission". Jesus is regarded as a prophet in Islam, and a fair amount of space in the Qur'an (surah 19 and elsewhere) is devoted to him. The Qur'an does not recognize Jesus as being the son of god, nor the resurrection [neither do I]. There is nothing in the Qur'an alleging that anyone will return, including Jesus. There is much mention of jihad, and of fighting the unbelievers, and this has been used by antisocial types as a justification for terrorist acts. Like the bible, the Qur'an has errors; the claim that either is the word of god is untenable. The Qur'an does not recognize a distinction between religion and secular society -- everything is religious in nature. Many Muslims [see earlier response by one] claim that scientific evidence supports the authenticity of the Qur'an, but this is not true.

Iran's nuclear program is the beginning of a nightmare. When Iran has nuclear weapons, it is its stated intention to obliterate Israel. Israel would undoubedly retaliate with weapons of its own, and the casualties will run into the millions. Many European nations (particularly Russia) would rather make some money selling the Iranians the tools to do this than to do anything to stop them from doing it. The US, regarded by Iran's leadership as "the great Satan", could well be a target also.

The US has succeeded as a nation largely because the various religions have been willing to set aside theological differences to advance their own secular interests. I hope that this will continue. It is much less likely to continue should it ever occur that Muslims become a majority of the population (see above).

When I was eight years old, it became clear that the biblical tales could not be reconciled with science, and since science is obviously right (it works!), the bible had to go. In (all too many) decades since, I have never encountered any evidence proving the existence of god. Neither has anyone else.

yes muslims belive that jesus is a prophet of God
yes muslims are also waiting for Jesus to return like all christians.

Yes Islam does mean peace.

I believe terrorism, naturally, is a bad thing that kills hudereds of people along with their dreams. As for the state of israel and iran's nuclear program...i'll stay out of that one.

From my Jewish and Christians friends i think they are very understanding and have similar beliefs lyk Muslims. They fasted with me in Ramadhan and currently i'm participating in Lent. I've visited a beautiful catholic church (that is Portuguese) as well.

Since im a patriot i naturally love america (i was born and raised here).

i think athiests that believe science answers the fundamental questions of life rather than religion is just plainly ridiculous. wont go into that too much.

All the statements about Islam are true.

I think Israel/US should let Palestine have independence, you're irking the Saudis which is a really dumb thing to do. I think Iran has a right to pursue a nuclear program. After all, if they have the technology to why stop them? The US should not be a hegemony of the world, nor should we be the police officers.

Muslims believe that Jesus is the prophet of God....that is true...

something I believe is stated also in the Bible

John 4:44 For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honour in his own country.

hmmmm....I may be wrong but I think that the verse itself tells us that Jesus was stating that he was a prophet..

I think its good that you decided to go learn all the religions rather than believing what is being said ...
Yes we do believe that Jesus will return..
Islam does mean peace...

I just have a suggestion...if you really want to learn about islam why not try your local mosque??
people there will LOVE to help.....and you are always welcome ...so you don't have to be afraid..

All of those statements are true. I don't think terrorism is right because Islam does mean peace, and terrorism has like nothing to do with peace. Israel doesn't exist so yeah. I think Atheists should re-think their thought. Jews are ignorant, and Christians are cool

Islam has tow meaning , peace and submit to God.
once a person submit to God (Allah) , he will feel peace.

We are allowed to eat Christians and Jews food because they believe in the same God we believe and we are allowed to marry their wives for the same reason , other religion we don't

WE believe that all Allah prophets are Muslims because they submit to The God (Allah) and they all feel peace.
Thanks
