giving vital intelligence to the enemy?

If so, is it unavoidable, and just a facet of our form of government?

By setting a wihtdrawl date you are giving the enemy a clear advantage. They know all they have to do is lay low until the date arrives and the soldiers go home then they can come out from under their rock to reign terror and the unprotected masses. Setting milestones is a much betted plan than having an artificial milestone such as a certain date.

The military doesn't want to set a withdrawal date because we would probably be leaving the Middle East sooner than they want to. Don't expect a withdrawal date to be set. We'll leave the Middle East as soon as the mission is accomplished.

How much military force from an outside country would it take to change your thoughts on religious beliefs you were taught and raised on?

If one would think they are doing the work of God, why would outsiders patrolling neighborhoods make any difference?

The US military being there, or just outside the border, or completely out of the region will not affect the desire of one beliefs group to dominate the other. We are only an obstacle, not a deterrent.
