you really need to test them side-by-side.

Well a 10 inch sub is more for a tighter sounding bass. Such as you would get with rock music. They dont go to as low of a frequency as a 12 inch sub. I really prefer the 10 inch in my car because of my musical preference and I like the tight punchy bass I get from it. Where as with a 12 you get a looser sound. Not necessarily sloppy but just looser. I like the 10's personally. Either way you should line your trunk with either Dynamat or its equivelant. I've heard tar roofing paper works just as well but never tried it. It's a way to go if you want to save some money.

Might as well go with the 12" I have a 12" Sony and it has made a huge difference in music and goes great with my Bose Sound System. If you can I would try to test them out before buying one. I didn't test mine out so I got a little nervise on how it would sound but it sounds good. I'm jamin to Van Halen right now and it sounds fantastic. Good Luck
