Mormonism includes many other unusual doctrines which you will probably not be told about until you have been in the church for a long time. These doctrines are not revealed to investigators or new converts because those people are not yet considered ready to have more than "milk" as doctrine. The Mormons also probably realize that if investigators knew of these unusual teachings they would not join the church. In addition to those mentioned elsewhere in this article, the following are noteworthy: NOTES

God was once a man like us.
God has a tangible body of flesh and bone.
God lives on a planet near the star Kolob.
God ("Heavenly Father") has at least one wife, our "Mother in Heaven," but she is so holy that we are not to discuss her nor pray to her.
We can become like God and rule over our own universe.
There are many gods, ruling over their own worlds.
Jesus and Satan ("Lucifer") are brothers, and they are our brothers - we are all spirit children of Heavenly Father
Jesus Christ was conceived by God the Father by having sex with Mary, who was temporarily his wife.
We should not pray to Jesus, nor try to feel a personal relationship with him.
"God" ("Jehovah") in the Old Testament is the being named Jesus in the New Testament.
In the the highest degree of the celestial kingdom some men will have more than one wife.
Before coming to this earth we lived as spirits in a "pre-existence", during which we were tested; our position in this life (whether born to Mormons or savages, or in America or Africa) is our reward or punishment for our obedience in that life.
Dark skin is a curse from God, the result of our sin, or the sin of our ancestors. If sufficiently righteous, a dark-skinned person will become light-skinned.
The Garden of Eden was in Missouri. All humanity before the Great Flood lived in the western hemisphere. The Ark transported Noah and the other survivors to the eastern hemisphere.

previous to getting caught in Idaho in the militia i did no longer even comprehend what Mormon ideals consisted of. After being in the section for extremely some time i will fairly say that a huge majority of Mormons incredibly walked the stroll of their faith a lot extra effectual than different religions or denominations... no longer maximum of jack-mormons yet once you got here upon one you certainly knew it... Makes the Catholic college female theory look like a primary occasion of a bible thumper. i in my opinion went to a Mormon church as quickly as on a tithes and testimony day (brother married a mormon female against her mothers and dads will through fact he wasn't a mormon) so replaced into in one in all those positions to easily flow and suck it up over commencing an excellent fuss... Being raised a Christian i presumed each and all of the human beings weeping and reacting the way they did on the degree and professing Joseph Smith extra beneficial than Jesus replaced right into a joke. Even had the prospect to hearken to the little ministers on the motorcycles as quickly as. i found out that i replaced into supposedly "golden" from my sister in regulation. in the event that they only new i presumed they should have ignored the different "M" in Mormon. I digressed from my faith in Christ besides as i've got grown older. i'm no longer attempting to diss the religion of Mormons yet this is my trouble-free opinion. to each and each their very own. My in simple terms actual discourse with Utah is it replaced into the 1st state to make hashish unlawful from what i will remember, the watered down beer is a joke, and that i could no longer help yet look at each and all of the information from SLC the place mothers and dads have been outraged relating to the "cocaine power beverages" being on the industry which might make their youngsters in all hazard evaluate doing the actual concern. All those sinful components! In summation, in many cases reliable human beings = definite faith = will no longer be able to attend to work out what the subsequent next testomony will encompass

Nothing wrong with LDS - they're everywhere, even in my sitting room just now. We live opposite the great and spacious building otherwise known as the Trafford Centre.

I feel very bad for them. They are working so hard to get to the "Celestial Kingdom". How do they know if they've done enough good works to get there? That question will always be in the back of their minds. They don't realize how simple salvation really is, they want to complicate it, or should I say that Joseph Smith complicated it. I only hope that they would start studying their Bibles. If they would they would see how wrong this church is and hopefully join a TRUE Christian church, not this phony thing Joseph Smith invented.

I've heard many people call them a cult.
That they were being lied to
They are confused, and have wierd skewed ideas of what's true
their prophecies have not come true
they like polygomy.

Most of these people probably have never studied the LDS religion

I'm LDS, and I grew up in Northern California, and people there were pretty nonchalant about it- sometimes people would ask me questions about my beliefs, I'd explain them as best I could and 9 times out of 10, their response was a light-hearted "cool."

I could believe whatever I wanted to believed, they believed what they wanted to, and it was all good.

I think they're nuts. I just finished reading the Book of Mormon, and a more pretentious bit of nonsense I have never encountered (except some of the creationist web sites, but they hardly count). Why anyone with the brains of a gnat would believe a single word of it is a complete mystery. The Mormons' only redeeming value is that their emphasis on clean living, industriousness, and self-reliance has enabled them to flourish.

I have no problem with them. Some of my family is LDS. It's all about personal choice and if that is what you choose so be it.

Great family people, possibly too judgmental of others, belief in polygamy is not understood, racially intolerant (everyone is white), fabulous choir (Mormon Tabernacle Choir), socially irresponsible for having as many children as possible.

Eventhough my beliefs lean towards Buddhism, Mormons haven't done anything bad to me so I don't hold any opinions about them.
