i would say high intensity and high duration. there is also the factor of the exercise being done right.

There is no magic formula to losing weight. It's simply a matter of using more calories than you put in. Thus, there are two possible things you can do: use more, or put less in. As far as "using more", any cardiovascular exercise will help you to boost your metabolism. Also, I have heard that eating several small meals a day rather than three meals a day will help to boost metabolism. Also, strength training (i.e. building muscle) will help, because muscle burns calories even when at rest, so building your muscles a little bit will help to burn more too. It's not a bad idea to consult with your doctor about your exercise plans.
