Find some laws that pertain to coveting. More than one commandment mentions that so we've got to have hundreds of laws on the books for that little baby!

can tell you what some of our founding fathers said on this issue.

James Madison:

“ We’ve staked our future on our ability to follow the Ten Commandments with all of our heart.”

“We have staked the whole future of American civilization, not upon the power of government, far from it. We’ve staked the future of all our political institutions upon our capacity…to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.” [1778 to the General Assembly of the State of Virginia]

and coveting comes from the heart and leads to things like theft and murder. which are illegal.

Coveting that which belongs to others is what leads to so many other crimes; adultery, theft, etc. I do not know of any laws specifically against coveting, unless you count the laws against wanting to lynch people (called conspiracy) or laws against wanting to speak or think a certain way (hate crimes laws).

I, ee, er, uh....

Crap, I wanted to be first but I can't think of a dang thing!!

See.... I'm pretty sure that the thought police only exist in 1984. Coveting is a thought and not an action, yes?

Adultery isn't illegal, it may be grounds for a divorce but it is not illegal. Of the 10, only three have made it into law: Thou shalt not kill (but our laws allow for killing in certain circumstances), Thou shalt not steal (it is a petty crime unless you brought a weapon because then you may have killed someone), and Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor (you can spread all the rumors you want as long as you don't spread them to law enforcement, or in court, or to the press)
As far as I can see, this country was "founded on" three of the 10, not even 30%.

This country was not founded on the ten commandments. Have you heard of the separation of church and state? That means the country is not run by religion. This country is based on the Bill of Rights, the first ten ammendments to the Constitution. Get your facts straight.

Wouldn't one be that adultry is illegal.

Oh and not to covet animals.

And coveting in different positions in other states is illegal as well. I sure as hell (pun intended) don't want to live there.
