Just say "What are the 10 commandments anyway?"

I've done this about 6 times in my real life. So far, the person hasn't known what they are. It's freaky! There's only 10 of em - it's not like it's that hard.

Why do you suppose they do this?

LMAO!!!

they do this because this is what their pastor/priest tells them. most things they profess are things theyve only heard, and never researched. for instance noah took 2 of every animal on the ark. in genesis 7, it says he took 7 [pairs] of the clean animals.

The 10 Commandments are as follows, and are taken directly from the Bible, and not from the Catechism of the Catholic Church:

1. Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.
2. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven images or bow down to them.
3. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.
4. Keep the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
5. Honor thy father and thy mother.
6. Thou shalt not kill.
7.Thou shalt not commit adultery.
8. Thou shalt not steal.
9. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.
10. Thou shalt not covet (anything).

Technically, there are only civil laws today that deal with the 6th and 8th Commandments. All other laws based upon the other Commandments have been done away with, which gives you an idea of where our country is heading. Everything else listed above is, unfortunately, perfectly legal, and even the 6th Commandment is currently violated via abortion and euthanasia, and the 8th Commandment is violated via the IRS.
As you can see, if everyone kept all 10 Commandments without being forced to, this would be a pretty happy and peaceful country. God's Law is perfect.

They are just spouting drivel they have heard either out of fear or a desire to be part of a group. The funny thing is that most groups lobbying for the 10 Commandments removal from courthouses etc have issue with the commandments about worship, the rest of them were written into the Constitution. The unwashed and uneducated masses will probably always be a source of great amusement.

Because people just like to hear themselves talk.
The country was founded by native americans LOL.
Then taken over by those who were escaping religious persecution. I think it is funny tho that those folks cant even name all ten of the commandments
God is God/Don't worship an idol
Dont curse God
Worship on Saturday, or sunday (LOL)
Honor your parents
Don't murder
Don't cheat
Don't Steal
Don't lie
Don't envy others/Or another man's wife
The religions cant even agree on which ones are what numbers.
Apparently if you are Jew these are 10 of the 607 laws to follow, and the non-jews only have to follow the 7 laws of noah...
anyway...God Bless

I have them posted at front door and Back door, outside,I can see them when I leave and when I return, not so much for other people
but for Me.That is why they are close to door.God"s Law is Perfect,I am not saying ,I am saved by keeping them,Jesus Christ my Kinsman Reedemer ,Never violated even One,no one else can say that--Well I guess some might ..I guess for those who say"I did It My Way"They will have to Measure up to the Law.

You have raised a very Important Question,These Ten Commandments have been in National News and Courts for 3 years now,God always sends Warning before Judgement,I realized I couldn"t say them in order,so I started saying them.

The Ten Commandements were given to the Israelites, not us! That's just a common misconception, even in many of today's churches. We were given the following commandements:
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, strength, and soul. And Love you neighbor as yourself. This belief is what this country was founded on in many ways and can be proven by looking at almost every government document throughout our short history!

Be blessed!

People will pick up a "fact", and pass it on because it is a "fact" - just look at Urban Myths. Nobody bothers to go back to original sources. Even scientists do it. You should read Stephen Jay Gould's essay "The case of the Creeping Fox Terrier Clone" in "Bully for Brontosaurus" (Penguin 1992)

Yeah, if they were on a game show, and the last question came down to what the 10 commandments were, they'd fail miserably.

Ok I'm wondering what the motive of your question is. What are you really asking. I've told people this but seriously I don't know many people that don't know what the ten commandments are. and also its not really about just knowing what the ten commandments are the country was founded on the ten commandments so that we could apply them to our daily lives.

They are the commandments given to Moses for the Jewish People to live by and to be given to the rest of the world.
