they are gulping too much air with it. You can put something, such as a rock or upside down flower pot in the bowl to slow down the drinking, or water them from a bundt pan, with the tube in the center..anything to keep them from drinking so fast..

I would wager a bet that they are large breed dogs who have just been playing or running hard and run up and scarf down a huge amount of water then bring it back up right? If so that's normal, it is just too much to soon, offer both small amounts of water after exercise and slowly increase the amount as they calm down. If they are not large and exercising then have them checked by a vet, they may have a problem.

Do your dogs have access to water all day?
I suspect not, it sounds like they are "filling their boots" when they get an opportunity. As you have more than 1 dog, it also turns into a race.
Try leaving a small amount of water out at all times, this should sort the problem out

They are drinking it too fast and causing air to back up in their stomachs. Because dogs have a hard time burping when they do some water comes up with it.
Putting sugar in it will not help this problem.

They are most likely drinking too quickly, try putting a little sugar in the water

If they have been very active and are really thirsty and the water is too cold likely they will bring it back up.
If the water is stale or contaminated is another cause.
Poison in the water

Could be an indication of something wrong, but sometimes when they lap they take in air, which gives them wind and when they "burp" up comes the water. Check it out though it could be something or nothing.

i used to have a dog that had the same problem with food and water. i simply raised the height of the food and water bowl so he would not have to bend down to reach the food and that solved the problem.
