I get disability for IBS...those are my symptoms but it may be too early to diagnose. It could be stress. You still need to go to a gastroenterologist because it could be something more serious. You never know.

It could be IBS. Or it could be happening because you've been really stressed, or changed your diet lately. But that is something that you will have to determine. As for IBS: I have it. It sucks. You can hardly ever go to the restroom, when you do, it is very painful, both your stomach and your anus, also... you can sometimes have blood in your stool. If you should continue to have problems, I would make an appointment to get an x-ray of your abdomen, this will determine the problem!

some of the symptoms sound like ibs. i have suffered with ibs for most of my life. most doctors have trouble diagnosing ibis. Many doctors will also misdiagnose other illnesses as ibs. with your symptons coming on within the last month i would say you probally dont have ibs. you will need to see your doctor. start with a food diary keeping track of what you eat and when you eat and when the attacks happen. this information will help you and your doctor find your problem. could be a food allergy. hope you feel better

Always look to diet and lifestyle first. If you have changed what you eat it will affect your digestion. Also, and less obviously, consider life changes. Stress or anxiety have a definite impact on your bowel movements. Remember, stress can come from good things (getting married) as well as bad. Your body can't tell good stressors from bad.
Loose and painful do not usually go together. Have you considered hemorrhoids?

It could be a number of things - IBS, IBD, Chron's, etc.
Probably would be best to go to your regular doctor to discuss your symptoms and then possibly get a referral to a gastroenterologist. They will be able to correctly identify what problem you have and be able to give you the right treatment.

I do not believe you have IBS. All you need to do is make a few changes in your diet. Adjust you diet so that you have several massive bowel movements a day like me.
Breakfast:
I usually start my day with a bacon and cheese omelette, buttered white toast, grits, hashbrowns covered and smothered, a side of bacon, and some really strong cuban coffee.
After breakfast snack:
A couple of bagels with cream cheese. One bagel onion and the other cinnamon raisin.
Lunch:
A visit to the local sandwich shop for an all the way 18 inch sub with double meat. I usually upgrade for the combo meal to include a bag of chips and a drink.
Afternoon Snack:
A couple of Snicker's bars and possibly a half-pound of fried chicken gizzards with lots of hot sauce from the convenient store down the street.
Dinner:
Large, juicy ribeye steak, stuffed loaded baked potato, onion rings, and some vegetable medley.
If you were to adjust your diet so that you consumed as much as I do on a typical basis, I am absolutely positive that your bowel movements would not be loose. Perhaps painful but not loose.
Oh, and don't forget...wipe from front-to-back, not side-to-side.
