De-icing salts have no effect on AC pavement. However, de-icing salts do cause PCC pavement to deteriorate.

Actually, the cycle of freezing and thawing of water has a greater deteriorating effect on both concrete and asphalt (where there cracks have developed and water is leaking into the substrate).
