I think my metabolism is too slow and maybe that's the reason why I get fat easily.

Many things help. Eating thermic foods which are foods that are not refined or lack nutrition. Example of thermic foods include, whole grains, veggies, fruits, and low-fat dairy products. It is important to eat about every 3-4 hours. The meals should be about 300-400 calories each. Sometimes this isn't the easiest for people to do, so even three meals a day, obviously with more calories in each is fine. Breakfast is the most important since it gives you a jump start to your day. Drink plenty or water to hydrate yourself and work out 3-4 times a week. Strength training will be the key to increasing your metabolism and not to forget the foods you eat. Lift weights 3 times a week, skipping days in between since your muscles will need to heal. Cardiovascular will also help since your metabolism will be working at a much higher rate about an hour after your workout. It takes about 12 weeks of working out for you to gain about 3-6% more muscle depending on how intense your workouts are. If you don't like strength training try pilates, yoga, or a sport involving exaggerated body movements.

Metabolism can be affected by a number of things. Basically, it will be different for everyone. Foods like Green Tea and Chilli can increase your metabolism for several hours after consumption, but what is perhaps the most reliable way to do so is exercise or strength training. Running or any aerobic exercise will speed up your metabolism for many hours after you have completed it. Basically you will burn calories beyond the actual expenditure of energy of activity because your body's metaboism is given a temporary boost.

Also effective is strength training which not only burns calories, but improves your metabolism. Each pound of muscle will burn about 50 calories per day. So effectively, the more muscle you have, the more calories are expended to maintain your body.

Exercise often. That keeps your metabolism up, and you'll therefore burn more calories. I swim - 1/2 an hour, 3-5 times per week. Any aerobic exercise will do. Just do it for at least a half an hour, most days of the week. Good luck!

getting to be more active... doesn't necessarily have to be exercise, but something aerobic. dancing can have the same effect- it's aerobic, gets U in action more, to dance pretty good U have to practice so that keeps U up more hours in the evening. can't eat stuff that will make U sluggish, cuz then U can't dance that fast.

you could stay up more hours of the day. your body thinks that becuz U are up later, & wake up earlier, that i must keep up a higher metabolism. just to be ready for more activities during waking hours.

there's the method of external medication, chemicals, & certain foods. caffeine, power bars, power shakes help U to keep awake for longer. didn't wanna mention that "Coek" thing but if U were already into that, U wouldn't be asking the question- would U?!... i'm not advocating experimntl drugs.

get into competitive sports, gets your adrenaline going, & that keeps U awake & alert for longer. ride roller coasters. that also gets your adrenaline going, & intensifies your mind's will-to-live function. go amateur auto racing...

drink more water. makes your body think it has to process more stuff & increases productivity of your body functions.

develop more muscles. a muscle has to burn a certain amount of calories just to stay alive. & then it burns even more, when it is working/ in motion. when compared to a person with less muscle, a person with more muscles will be able to burn off calories & tone back up relatively easy.

start thinking your metabolism to speed up. focus the mind & your body will follow. U have to believe it though. once U believe it, it's easier to do. then when U are doing it, it's easier to believe it.

Why don't you exercise and try to eat less (go on a diet) or you can just forget about it and just enjoy life the way you are. The only draw back with just accept yourself is that obesity has really bad side affects on your health like heart attack, diabettes, ovarian cyst syndrome. Have you noticed that obese people walk funny (it's because they have really fat thighs). A diet and exercise should help especially if you eat fruit instead of chocolate.

Rules before my mention:

1: Don't listen to people who tell you to "eat lotssss and small amountzzs!!1" That's the absolute worst way to "speed" your metabolism. It won't. It's a very artificial and temporary way to do so, and doesn't work.

2: Don't listen to your doctors... They're more than likely dietarily-challenged morons.

Now, to increase your metabolism without destroying your body... EAT CORRECTLY. You get FAT because you intake too many calories and you're eating food that has a high level of toxins!

Things that will cause you to get fat: (short list)

1: Too much energy to get rid of. If your organs are already satisfied with the energy you've received, they store what they can't use immediately. Not all, but much.

2: Toxins... TOXINS toxins toxins. Pesticides, herbicides, burned food, foods that have an acidic ash content when digested... Now, do remember that because of your bad diet and poor health, your body is already overworked with detoxification and digestion and thinking and moving... Wow, now YOU try to do all of that at once without one mistake! Obviously you can't at the moment.
Tip one: Don't eat 'acidic residue' foods in excess. Sugar, artificial sweeteners, plastic residue, high glycemic (bread, pasta, cooked potatoes, sugar, etc etc) foods, complex (whole) proteins and animal proteins (dairy, red meat, any other meat). You can have some of these for energy and maybe a boost of protein or your good oils and fats.
DO NOT FALL TO THE FALACY THAT PROTEIN ONLY COMES FROM MEATS. This is total bullshit; Fit only for the weak minded and ill-lived. Do some research on amino acids. QUALITY over QUANTITY, as nature intends.

...Okay, well, I'm about to have to jolt, but basically, don't eat like a fatty and you won't become one. Your metabolsim naturally speeds to accompany your diet. You have a slow metabolsim because:

1: You're clogged as hell; Undigested foods and decaying, rotting foods in your colon because of an over production of mucusses your body needs to protect you from acidic ash content and many other toxins and parasites.

2: You eat a lot of meat, dairy, grains, fats, seeds, nuts, etc that are very slow-digesting (even more so with your intestines...).

Now, go out and buy yourself some peppermint teas, oranges (eat the peel as well), other herbal teas (without sugar, damnit...), etc. Eat like nature intended! You can't go wrong by limitting (drastically) your intake of red meats and dairy. Eat more fish and poltry... and don't eat it with seasonings (like the aweful MSG). Get bananas! Eat avocados! Eat grapefruits and grapes and spinach (contains, by far, the best source of quality protein ever - Vegan body builders can easily grow on this alone!), etc etc.

In other words, use your brain, but first use your instinct.

EDIT: Ps- 'Green tea' and "peppers" will increase your metabolic speed... hahaha; temporarilly. Your body doesn't want hot peppers chemically burning the intestines and elimination organs, and certainly doesn't want things like caffeine in it. Plus, green tea is a natural laxative BESIDES the caffeine. Many different reasons.

Good luck.

Don't increase calories but eat 6 mini meals a day. Have an apple for a snack or lowfat yogurt. When you starve yourself or go long periods without food your body tries to protect itself and slows down your metabolism.

Also focus on fiber rich foods, lowfat foods and get rid of sugar...white bread etc.

Its been proven, and I know it works as I do it. Eat more chilli, anything hot, eat more of it, it boosts your metabolism like you wouldnt believe, don't go crazy though, especially if your not used to it. Tabasco on every meal works wonders. But you have got to keep eating it, don't eat a bit and then stop, it won't work.
