Are you Spiritual or Religious? And what do you think the difference is?

Some of you have stated that you are one or the other or both without a reason as to why. Please explain what you think the difference in definition of these two things are.

I am not religious. I do not believe in a personal God of any description. I have never found there was anything that persuaded me that a God exists. Certainly not in a 'biblical' sense, where scientific evidence appears to contradict most of the genesis story.

I did however find Buddhism suited me. It is practical and requires no belief in anything. The Buddha simply suggested that one tries out the technique he developed for coping with life and see if it works. I found it made me happier and more contented.

From Zen Buddhism I discovered Taoism. And bits of Taoism are spiritual. There is thought to be an underlying 'order' to the universe. A flow of energy throughout. A sense of 'universality' which one could think of as a bit 'goddy'. But that's as far as it goes.

I am spiritual because I have been made spiritually alive through union with the uncreated Life of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
The term religious has taken on negative connotations in our day, but it need not. I am religious, not because I adhere to a set of manmade dogmas, but because I am conscientious to live my life in a way that would be pleasing to God and beneficial to mankind.

Religion has a dogma of some sort...religion is an institution and can be labeled.

Spirituality can exist outside of this.

I am Spiritual, not religious. (it is possible to be one or the other, or both, or neither)
