IAMS and Science Diet are really great. But BilJacks is probably the best for hunting dogs.

I see some interesting answers on here about this. Dogs don't need to be on puppy food!!!!! all these dog food companies push all this crap at you. Puppy food has more nutrition in it than the adult foods do to make them grow faster and this is not a good thing specially if you have a large breed that can grow to fast and get growning pains.
Look at Purina they have 9 different foods. Purina 1,dog chow, Beneful,Alpo, might dog you get the picture. If there food was so good why not just make one????? Take Beneful, you see the commercial and you see nice cut of choice meat and fresh veg's. That is far from the truth. Ground yellow corn, chicken by-product meal, corn gluten meal, whole wheat flour, beef tallow.
This is the first 5 things in Beneful: Corn( hard to digest and dogs are carnivores and need meat first) Next you have chicken by product( look it up if you don't know what by product is) corn again and beef tallow Tallow is rendered mutton, beef or other bovine fat.
My point to all this is that your food that you get from Pet Co or other stores is really not what you think it is. Look for something that is human grade food and has not by products, wheat, corn.

The new thought now is with large breed dogs that you are better feeding the puppy dog food as the puppy food can contain a lot of fat and too much protein and so cause the dog to grow too fast. I fed my Airedale dog food from day one and she grew up fine. I would suggest talking to your vet and seek their opinion.

Iams or Eukanuba are the best out there. They are made by the same company and use premium ingredients. Don't believe stuff about your dog being allergic to certain things, that is totally dependent on the dog and it is hard to find out for sure. Science Diet, made by Hill's, is also a great product. What I know about Eukanuba is that it has DHA, an antioxidant, in it that is vital in proper brain development. DHA has also been studied by human doctors and they believe it is important for infants too.

Nope. I think they're all the same. But avoid getting products with chicken in it because most dogs are allergic to those ingredients. But I think the best puppy food is Purina. That's what I give to my schnoodle (mix of a schnauzer and a poodle).

most of the dog foods that you can get from the grocery store or even the large chain pet stores aren't very good. i would use eith er the innova brand or wellness. not only is real meat the first ingredient (and not "meat meal") but they have a lot of other great things in them like fruits, vegetables and omegas. feeding dog foods from grocery stores is like feeding your dog a diet of fast food.

The "best" is probably Science Diet available at vets or at petsmart, but Pedigree dry food is very good for half the price and you can get it at any store.
