Power wash it, let it dry good for a week and paint with 100% acrylic paint, a satin so it doesn't collect the dirt and dust. good luck Please don't put oil paint on masonry

I know that there is paint that is usable for bricks. Check with a reputable paint store to find out the right kind of preparation and paint. I've always liked painted brick - it has a nice "homey" feel.

You can paint brick, but 1st you must make sure it's stable and clean. You must 1st wash the brick with TSP and use a wire brush to remove any loose material.

yes you can you will have to seal it with an EXTERIOR OIL BASED primer. then go over it with either a latex or oil based paint both need to be exterior to resist uv and moisture.
it will take an act of god to get it off and will kill your resale value on the home.

Yeah, you need a special primer. Be sure you want to do it though because to take it off again requires sand blasting. I think it looks nice if done tastefully.
