By what he didn't say. No need to preach or to spit out pearls of wisdom or to be humble. He would just ask for the salt and pepper and relish the steak and potatoes on his plate without thinking that he needed to reflect on it. He would sh!t and not make sh!itting a big deal. He would make love and consider the other person (as he would do in all his endeavors because of his enlightenment experience). And he would smack you over the head with a big stick for trying to apply ego litmus tests for enlightened people. And then he'd make you wash your mouth out for thinking that there are enlightened people.

So you think this person is Enlightened? Take it at face value dont believe everything a person says. you have to make up your own mind and hear this from someone else. keep an open mind and dont take what you hear is always the truth.

By the fact that if you meditate on it and analyze and scrutinize it logically, it works and makes irrefutable logical sense... then they're likely quite enlightened. As you probably know, an enlightened person won't go around bragging about it.

I don't know.
I'm not really even sure what "enlightened" means.
The last time I saw the Dalai Lama, he said that he was not enlightened. I guess I've never heard anyone say they were enlightened.
