Tough as in how? If you take good physical care of yourself then the PT and weight standards aren't too hard to meet.

Mentally, the Air Force is a HIGHLY technical branch, and with reduced numbers we're constantly looking for ways to do things smarter. This means that Air Force troops are expected to be innovative and independent problem solvers. Furthermore, we DO deploy, alot actually. The difference lies in that while an army type might deploy for a year long tour, the Air Force Airman is likely to deploy for 3 seperate four month tours.

The main difficulty comes in the work. If something goes wrong and man-hours are needed to fix it, you work over time. When you're deployed there are ALWAYS things that need to get done, so you'd better be ready to work 14 hour days 7 days a week.

Not really. Basic Training has changed to little more than intense training with a few mental games. New fitness standards involve more running, push-ups and sit-ups but it is not bad at all. Tech training is still second to none. Over the last 10 years or so, many new dormitories, dining halls, and facilities have been constructed. For a single person, it's almost like living in a small apartment.

The Air Force basic training is tolerable and they have the best Tech Schools especially the high tech areas. The USAF has some very cool toys if you qualify. Stay in school, keep your grades up and stay in shape....you will do fine. Good luck from a 27 year USAF Vet

Tough as the rest of the services; if your going to join because you're trying to avoid a draft in the army or because you think we're not tough we got some words to exchange

So what is your reason for joining at AF again? I heard that it is very hard to get into. Join the Marines instead. It is a piece of cake. Trust me, it will do you some good.
