God did not make the "devil." God created an angel, who later committed the sin of Pride, and was thus cast out of heaven. This casted out angel is known as Satan, Beelzebul, Lucifer, the Devil.

God made the devil as an angel. He was the head over all music, and musical related things. His name was Lucifer, which means most beautiful light. He gave the angel free will just like us, and so Lucifer decided he did not want to follow God. God cast him and his followers out of heaven after a great battle. Lucifer now seeks to destroy us in order to get back at God. He really doesn't care about hurting us, or about trapping us in sin. He just wants fewer of us to have a relationship with God. However he can do that he will. For some it even means convincing them that there is no God.
Also his backgroud in music is what give him an opening in our music, and why some music is so powerful.

ok God didn't make the Devil, the Devil persay. He made him an angel and the Devil was boastful and prideful in himself and he became a fallen angel. Hell is not the Devils territory, the Devil is just another burning soul down there because he is a fallen angel.

God didn't make the devil - the devil is a fallen angel. However, an angel had to fall in order to balance the universe - i.e. there has to be something bad in order to define something else as good. Angels and devil are like Yin and Yang - opposing yet balancing energies.

Im not going to pretend I know why, because no one really truely know why God does anything.

But maybe He made the devil so that he can test us and find the REAL Christians and sort. Than u guys are going to say that He knows everything, which He does. But we have free will, but He already knows if we are doomed or not and knows that some people won't even change if a huge miracle happens, and if thats what it takes, He doesn't want you... maybe. but who am I to say. No one knows God's plan...

Infinity hurts my brain...

God will deal with satan at the right time...

God created the heavens, the Earth, all creatures, and created man in his own image. I am sure he had an idea what would happen when he gave man free will...that is where the Devil comes in. Who better than to control sin than Gods best, and most trusted Angel. It is all part of the great theological tapestry, after all you cannot have one without the other.

The Devil is a metaphor and a many-membered body. One can merely look in the mirror to view part of who makes up the Devil.

He didn't make the Devil. He made an angel named Lucifer (Bringer of Light) who was incidentally the most beautiful of all the angels. Lucifer became the Devil or Satan by his actions against God. Angels must have freedom of choice as well.

The Devil disobeyed God because he want to do his own things. That's why there are trouble in the world because people don't want to respect God and follow his teachings.

A more interesting question would be: why did the devil make God?
