You wouldn't expect a child to take a stance on politics, so why religion?

Of course, thats what school is for.

However, everything is biased even the textbooks so it would be difficult to do so.

Teach them about whatever religons you want to in your home or at your church. However, don't try to get the public schools to teach them about all religions. That would be considered pushing religion by some people. There are a lot of better things to learn about in school. Keep religion a part of the personal life and not something that the government is supposed to dish out.

Imagine if a law were passed that said all schools had to teach about all religions, even private schools. Can you imagine how a christian-based school would handle teaching kids about wicca or atheism? Also, look at how much time and energy would be spent teaching kids about religion. You are going to have to get rid of something to do it. Maybe math or science? Our educational system has too many problems already. Don't burden it even more with being the religion teacher.

Who said I didn't? I am muslim, but my children are going to choose when they are older. If it's the will of God, they will be led. if it's not, then they won't be. I can teach them what to do and how to pray and all, but in the end it really is up to them. My mother is a Christian and oftentimes, they go to her house from Friday night to Sunday night. She goes to chuch on Sunday, and they go right along with her. I want them to know what religions say and the workings of each, that way they will have the knowledge. Islam says to seek out knowledge, and that it's mandatory for both men and women to have the highest education possible. That includes religon, and that's what I am doing.

When I am the only parent at my child's bus stop, I don't say to myself, "Maybe I should do what every other parent does and not be here." Who's to say my way isn't the right way? It's right for me and my children.

May God Bless you.

I hope everybody's kids eventually study and learn about all the different beliefs out there.

As far as biases go - that's going to be a natural repercussion of good parenting. I'd rather risk teaching my kid with my own perspective's biases than risk not teaching them at all. And I prefer that out of all parents (even when their beliefs are different from mine).

I personally want any children I have to learn about all religions. I would of course take them to my church, but when they were old enough to read logically, I'd get them as many books or let them take as many classes as they wished.

I believe children should learn about different religions because they want to and not because every one tells them to learn it. Religion is a belief and should be taught to those who want to learn.

Cause ain't but one way right. Children are just that, children. They need guidance in the right direction. Kids don't need options, they need a direction.

kids should be exposed to lots of different religious events and services. then be allowed to choose or not choose what they want. My (divorced and remarried) are Methodist, Lutheran, Catholic and Jewish. I was athiest, now agnostic methodist. and fine with it. my kids can be whatever they want. (except baptist) just kidding, kinda.

No. And I don't let them choose what they will eat and drink, either. Chocolate cake and rat poison are not choices I want them to make.
