Why is it if you get the flu or a wicked cold, it gives you body odor and puts that funky "sick room" smell in your room, despite the fact you are bathing regularly?

It is the toxins that are emitting from your skin. It is the same as when a person begins to die. You can smell it on them. Real weird. I wonder if a study has been done on that.

I agree with flying sheba..it could be because of her extreme body weight. She may have to use a body scrubber to exfoliate and a deodorant soap. It would also help if she showers at least twice a day and to make sure she dries well in between all her folds. It's sad but it is a fact. I commend you for sticking by her side even if she does have an offending odor. You are a true friend. Perfumes are only going to try to mask the odor and sometimes it makes it worse. If she is this big I wonder if her living arrangements are sanitary and if she lives with pets. Does her clothing appear well laundered too? It's such a touchy subject but if you do like her as a friend you would bring this up to her in private even if she gets upset. I would rather a friend tell me with good intentions than a stranger in disgust. Good luck and I hope she can take care of this situation.

I really don't think it has anything to do with your illness. You may bathe regularly but if you don't change your sheets everyday or air out the room you are going to get that "stuffy sick" smell. You would get that smell anytime you stayed in one room for a week!

LOL: I know. It really sucks.
Here are some simple explanations.
1. You are sick because of excess toxins or germs in the body. So that funky smell is the body trying to get rid of the toxins and germs.
2. You have antibodies in the body that kill the invading germs. But thet have nowhere to put the dead germs so they deposit them into your lympatic system, shich causes the pus we sometimes get in wounds.
3. When you are sick, the body increases its temperature to try and burn down the germs, which causes you to sweat off some of the toxins.

Every strain of bacteria puts off a different odor. The more sick you are the more bacteria are in the "colonies" and the more they smell.

It's the bacteria that causes the cold.

Any smells from the body are either caused by bacteria or gas that is a bi-product of bacteria.

Increased bacteria, that explains bad breath and stuff. Where your white blood cells normally subside they are no more, they have moved to fight the infection because they are soldiers going to war.
