It depends of what kind of food you are feeding him. There are many different dog foods out there and some alot better than others If you feed a dog a high quality dog food like Life's abudance or solid gold just to name 2 you actually feed less because the food doesn't have the fillers in it that others do. So they are getting the best nutrition with out all the extras that they don't need. And like we say to our students the less crap you put into the dog the less crap you get out. but if you are going to feed the dog a food that you can get at the pet store stick to an all natural and you will feed the dog about 3 c a day . keep in mind that excercise is a key to keeping the dog in good shape.

My 3 yr. old choc. lab eats two cups once a day (all at dinner time). And hes a perfect weight and healthy. The vet said he was surprised at seeing how much more muscle he has then fat for his age. But remeber if u dont already know, but to put water in with the food because labs stomachs are sensitive and can bloat and tie if they eat to fast without water which is life threatening.

depends on how active the lab is. there is a guide line on the food bags/cans. from there you jst adjust to how active and how much treats he gets through the whole day.
if you free feed, leaving a bowl out with endless food, then exercise your dog more. if you want to keep to a routine, feed him 3 cups in the am, and then 3 cups at night. if there is left over at either time, cut back to 2.5 cups in the am and then 2.5 cups at night.
hope that helps.

depends on the weight - i have a 1 year old yellow lab - he is about 90lbs and a big pig - they will eat as much as they can - look on the bag of food for advice. it should tell you how much for the weight, age...etc.
good luck!!

One cup twice a day, preferably one in the morning and one after dinner.
Labs don't need more then any other medium breed of dog, and they are more at risk for being overweight.

It will eat as much food as you put out. Three cats, and two possums per day.
