Personally, I don't find cruise ships to be nearly as bad as some of the smaller, private boats, or even yachts. But some people still have problems with it, luckily I've never had any problems with it.

I should also mention, the large ships have stabilizers to help calm the ship, even in the more wavy water, but some people still notice it. I know a woman who has motion sickness so bad that she has to take medicine before the ship even moves. Even before the cruise departs, she can have problems and has to wear a sea band or take the medication. Personally, I don't even feel the ship moving, but it all depends on how sensitive you are.

There are three popular things you can buy. Those are dramamine, the patch and then the sea band. Dramamine is a pill, I believe you take that before getting on the cruise, or at the first sign of any problems. The patch, goes behind your ear and you leave that on for the whole cruise, or once you start having the problems. The sea band is a wristband that just goes around your wrist, you can push on it to apply more pressure, supposedly that helps it work.

The ships usually have these things onboard. But, if you get on a really rocky ship, they can go fast, I always think it is a good idea to bring some just in case the ship doesn't have any onboard.

I've included a link you may also find helpful.

I have been on several cruises and on some, the seas were very rough and the ship did toss and roll quite a bit.

Seasickness has not ever bothered me or my wife but some people did get seasick.

Take some candied ginger root (available at any health food store) and chew on it. Not only does it taste great, it is supposed to relieve nausea. Some people wear the Trans-Scope patch behind an ear. It works but dries the mouth and makes a person sleepy. There are also the wrist bands that some people say work wonders. Dramamine makes a person sleepy.

I would say to go with the ginger root.

Have a good cruise.

Just go to the vitamin section at the store and get ginger tablets. Start taking them the day before you get on the ship and every day on ship. Its a natural thing instead of drugs and after effects. They will do the trick, they have worked for anyone of my friends that get car sick, plane sick or sea sick. On the big ships there's usually not a whole lot of movement that you feel unless you get a really rough day at sea. But, better to take them and make sure you don't get sea sick then get sick and ruin your days at sea.

Bonine is truly in my opinion the best product out there- it will not make you drowsy and works instantly! I do see many people with those behind the ear patches too though I've never tried those. True cruise ships are so big you may not feel it rocking but sometimes you will hit rough water and even though you aren't having to hold on to something- you are well aware that the ship is moving. Bonine has NEVER let me down

Drammamine. Take it at least 1/2 hour before you board.

Just a word, if you don't bring it on board with you, the medical team will have it, but from what I've heard the drammamine will be charged to your on board account, so bring some with you.

It would have to be pretty rough for you to even notice motion on most of the cruise ships out there.
I'd get on board, see how it went, and if you needed it, let the ship's physicians supply it. Your comfort is paramount for the crew, so they can better tailor the drug to your need. And they pay for it.
