I usually drink about one bottle a day. Sometimes, just a can. Could I see any weight loss, assuming I don't change anything else about my intake of food or drink (I would replace drinking soda with water or milk). Would it be very slow weight loss?

Yes, it would be slow. The bottles themselves are 250 calories. It takes 3500 calories to burn a pound of fat. So, without changing anything else, it would take you 2 weeks to lose just one pound.

just cutting soda wont help alot but cutting down on all the unnecessary foods or unhealthier foods you will see a dramatic change in about 2 weeks.

You would probably lose weight. Soda is chock full of added sugar, which converts itself into fat. Therefore, soda is about the best thing you could cut out of your diet. Switch to diet soda.

Someone I know stopped drinking regular soda, switching to diet, and lost 80 lbs. This was a guy, however.

the sugar used in diet soda is different from the sugar used in regular soda, and because of that the body has a hard time breaking down the sugar used, that it will make your body gain weight or just create an imbalance. Read it in mens health...but no one listens to me...you should look for a natural tea, maybe for a honey tea, but thinking positive works beat, stop worrying and counting everything.

What size bottles of soda do you drink? Soda has about 150 calories per 8 ounces, so yes - you will lose weight if you substitute water for the soda.

There are 3500 calories in a pound, so if the amount of soda you give up per week equals 3500 calories, you would lose 1 pound per week. If you exercise enough to burn 3500 calories per week in addition to giving up the soda, you'll lose 2 pounds per week.

Sodas are the silent killers of all diets. They have a worse effect than fruit juices.

Aside from the empty calories, sodas are a diuretic (as most caffeinated drinks are). If you drink alot of soda, but not alot of water, you will likely be dehydrated.

Now, here is where it gets tricky. You have two primary "filter" organs, the kidney and the liver. The kidney, when your body is dehydrated, doesnt function as well. Instinctively, the liver will "share the load" to compensate what the kidney isnt doing.

But, in doing that, the liver cannot do its processes as efficiently. One of those is...yep...helping the body to burn fat.

So, in getting rid of caffeinated (and carbonated) drinks, and going with water...your body will start to burn fat ten times more efficiently. You will see a dramatic difference in a few weeks.

Anytime we eliminate what I call "empty calories" from our diet there can be weight loss. You don't mention what your dietary habits are but I doubt seriously that since you only drink one soda a day that you will see any change in your weight.

Yes. I just read in Readers Digest that cutting one can a day you could lose about 13 lbs. over a year. From my own experience I cut down to one can per day and lost 20lbs. in two months. Admittedly I was drinking several cans a day.

probably not. that isn't enough to lose weight.

It depends on how your total diet is, and your physical activity.
