George Bush meets with the Queen of England. He asks her, "Your Majesty, how do you run such an efficient government? Are there any tips you can give to me?
"Well," says the Queen, "the most important thing is to surround yourself with intelligent people."
GW frowns. "But how do I know the people around me are really intelligent?"
The Queen takes a sip of tea. "Oh, that's easy. You just ask them to answer an intelligent riddle." The Queen pushes a button on her intercom. "Please send Tony Blair in here, would you?"
Tony Blair walks into the room. "Yes, my Queen?" The Queen smiles.
"Answer me this, please, Tony. Your mother and father have a child. It is not your brother and it is not your sister. Who is it?"
Without pausing for a moment, Tony Blair answers, "That would be me."
"Yes! Very good," says the Queen.
Bush goes back home to ask Vice President Cheney the same question.
" Answer this for me. Your mother and your father have a child. It's not your brother and it's not your sister. Who is it?"
"I'm not sure," says Cheney. "Let me get back to you on that one." Cheney goes to his advisors and asks every one, but none can give him an answer. Finally, he ends up in the men's room and recognizes Colin Powell's shoes in the next stall. Cheney shouts, "Colin! Can you answer this for me? Your mother and father have a child and it's not your brother or your sister. Who is it?"
Colin Powell yells back, "That's easy. It's me!"
Cheney smiles, and says, "Thanks!" Then, Cheney goes back to speak with Bush. "Say, I did some research and I have the answer to that riddle. It's Colin Powell."
Bush gets up, stomps over to Cheney, and angrily yells into his face, "No, you idiot! It's Tony Blair!"

ok first I gotta correct someone and say UMM no if Ur a christian U don't HAVE 2 get married in a church its not a law....

anywayz ok my beliefs as a Christian through what the Bible tells me are that God created 2 people; Adam and Eve who were designed to be perfect but also had the choice of free will. They essentially "created" the first sin and since then people have sinned because of that one situation. I also believe that God is all knowing, he can see everthing. He loves everyone and is an Everlasting God who is capable of anything. He sent his only son, through a virgin woman; Mary to Earth to save us from the sins of humanity. Ever since then we've had a connection to God; prayer through his son Jesus Christ who as a Christian is our Lord and Savior.
The inspiration for my religion was just when I went through a tough time and I couldn't take it anymore and I just looked around and said that there had to be more to life than just what was really here. The mountains, the air, the lakes, the birds, it was all so majestic and beautiful and that inspired me to take the step that I had been specualting over and I decided to be a Christian.
Words from my religion that inspire me most:
1 Corinthians 13:4-8
Love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud, it is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no records of wrong doings. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves. Love never fails.
Acts 1:8
But you will recieve power when the Holy Spirit has come unto you and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, all Judea, and Samaria and to the ends of the Earth.

I guess i'm christian but i'm probably the thing that doesnt believe in god or whatever. I find religion and especially going to church boring. I mean, who wants to get up early on a sunday, put fancy clothes on and then sit on a hard seat for hours being bored to death and being told the same things over and over again. Theres only so much you can actually talk about in church so why go for years and years. And as my grandfather says - church is for sinners. But anyway, (as u can probably guess) I am not religious and I barely know anything about the bible. I know loads of people who are the jesus crazy christians wont like this but how can you believe in an actual god?? Was one guy so great that when he died he had the power to do anything he wanted?? Can you really imagine that?? Well I guess i'm not really helping u with this answer but if u can add to the question can ayone say what the difference is between catholic/christian ect or are they the same thing??? - edit - and since i know people are gonna give me thumbs down and stuff anyway i also want to say i think religion is a bunch of bo!!ocks. Sorry for any offence but i just dont really believe in god

St. John 3:5, Acts 2:4, 2:38, 10:45-46, 19:6, and St. Mark 16:17. These are proofs that I have a relationship with the Creator. Now my life has a purpose and true meaning. Before I was just a working class alcoholic with the burden of life's problems on my back. Now I can walk tall because Jesus Christ has taken the burdens away!!

What inspires me? Seeking after Salvation, of course.

My beliefs are simple, God created all that you see, without God we would not be here. God send a messenger to us, a Jewish carpenter named Jesus Christ, to show us the way that is righteous. Jesus was put to death by non-believers who saw him as competing for their leadership roles, because they could not understand how a simple person like Jesus could have all the following that he had by simply speaking. He offered them nothing material only the promise of salvation. No gold, no riches, not even anything of value. But even he didn't realize at that time that he gave us the most valuable thing we could ever possibly have, salvation. And the meek will inherit the earth.

From the old testament: They will mount up with wings like eagles.

To be a Christian is to believe in Jesus the Christ, to accept him as in control of your life, and to try and do his will. Simple as that. That is Christianity. All the rest is just add ons by others through the ages.

What inspires me is to see prayers answered in the lives of my friends and the people around me. To see some of the miracles that are unbelievable if you know all the facts. Plus the knowledge that someone will always care for and love you. I mean no matter what you do it will never be awful enough. No matter where you go you will always have someone. Plus the unity you can have with someone just by knowing that what ever moral issues you are facing they are sharing, and you can talk about it with them, because they will never see it as "strange" or "abnormal".

The words that inspire me are many, but I guess the verse that hits me the most is Proverbs 31:31. It says, "Give her the reward she has earned and let her own works praise her at the city gate". Simply put it says to give some one what they deserve and let their actions speak for them to everyone else. It says that we are supposed to stand out for our actions, so I don't feel so out of place when I live my beliefs

As someone has already said I am a Christian by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, not by religeous beliefs. Christianity is not a religion it's knowing our saviour personally the way you know a friend or family member, but also having respect knowing Jesus came to earth in human form to show us the love of His Father (God).

It's impossible to choose one thing that inspires, there is so much that has spoken to me over the years, but i've chosen something beautiful just for you...

It's the BEATITUDES... Matthew ch 5:

and seeing the multitudes He went up to a high mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him, and He taught them, saying:

Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.
Blessed are they who mourn for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the poor in heart for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called children of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.
Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for my sake.
Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in Heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets before you.

BELIEVERS ARE SALT AND LIGHT...

You are the salt if the earth.
You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Let your light shine before men, and glorify your Father in heaven...

Jesus is compassionate, he cares for the lost, lonely, all who feel depressed, rejected, unloved and this is why we share so much of Him with others because all of us who ever felt this way know He is the answer to our every need. Can i leave you with this beautiful Jewish blessing..
SHALOM...
Just added: Denis C and Michael M God bless you abundantly...and i agree with House speaker...
My heart is blessed reading all these answers..

Not to be mean, but who made you us? lol Excellent question for the nice teacher with a classroom full of little students. But since you asked: The spirit inspires, religion is dead letter..

I must defer to a poem found, written on her room wall in a mental institution, after her death.

The love of God is greater far
Then tongue or pen can ever tell;
It goes beyond the highest star,
and reaches to the lowest hell.
The guilty pair, bowed down with care,
God gave His son to win;
His erring child He reconciled,.
And pardoned from his sin.

Chorus
Oh love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!'
It shall forevermore endure,
the saints and angels song.

When hoary time shall pass away,
And earthly thrones and kingdoms fall;
When men who here refuse to pray,
On rocks and hills and mountains call;
God's love, so sure, shall still endure,
All measureless and strong;
Redeeming grace to Adam's race,
The saints and angel's song.

Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made;
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And every man a scribe by trade;
To write the love of God above
Would drain the ocean dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Though stretched from sky to sky.

The poem was later set to music. It is said that the young woman was put in the institution by her family who did not agree with her faith. Whatever the exact circumstance, this woman had what the world is looking for, but many fail to find.
Being in the presence of the love of God in Christ Jesus is ultimate inspiration.

I believe that Jesus Christ sacrificed himself to cover all of our sins, and that he wants a real, loving relationship with each of us. I believe that our Father God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit are one, with different roles. God created us, Jesus saves us, and the Holy Spirit guides us. And I believe God has called us to love one another as he loves us.

My joy comes from a faith and growing relationship with God, not from a religion.

Two verses that have really inspired me lately:
Psalm 27:13-14, "I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD."

Jeremiah 29:11-13, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."

I really good set of questions, Pangel.
.......................................................................
I believe beyond this life we are going to have an absolutely wonderful time, because I have already tasted some of this: the love and goodness of God through the power of the Holy Spirit. It will be wonderful. Its more than any human could hope to expect for in this dog-eat-dog world.

We can make progress on this Earth towards that, although its an imperfect world currently.

Forgiveness is a certain thing for those with faith in Christ as He paid for the judgment "guilty" against us, by taking the punishment on the cross. His sacrifice is accepted by God since He is Son of God and a worthy sacrifice - a life for lives. You could murder 1000 people but as Jesus has paid the full horrid punishment to satisfy God's justice, forgiveness would be available if you repented and asked Jesus to bear your sins in your place.
..........................................................
I find Psalm 22, that many see as a prophecy about Christ on the cross moving....[excerpt]
"Dogs have surrounded me; a band of evil men has encircled me, they have pierced my hands and feet. I can count all my bones; people stare and gloat over me. They divide my garments among them and cast lots for my clothing."
...........................................................................
Then when reading the passion+resurrection accounts, when the grieving Mary Magdalene encounters the risen Jesus I always feel joy, after all the hideous rulers have murdered him, but he comes back from the dead, having overcome the worse that anyone could face: (John 20:13 on)

[angel at empty tomb] "Woman why are you crying?
They have taken my Lord away, and I don't know where they have put him". At this she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realise it was Jesus.
"Woman", he said, "why are you crying? who is it you are looking for?"
Thinking he was the gardener she said, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him"
Jesus said to her, "Mary".
She turned towards him and cried out in Aramaic "Rabboni!" (which means teacher).
Jesus said, "Do not hold on to me, for I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God."

Before i was a follower of the way, I did my own thing. that usually meant that other people suffered from my behaviour. When I really needed to know that God was there; when I was in a situation that I couldn't get out of, couldn't control and was utterly at the mercy of others; I prayed.

When I prayed, something happened, and from that day to this (6 years ago) my life has never been the same since. I now have a life!

I trusted that Jesus Christ died at the cross for the cleansing of all of my sins and transgressions, and that God wanted to pour out His grace upon me and as soon as I did; God's perfect peace came upon me and my life, my mind and my lust filled heart have transformed. Jesus loves ya!
