I take Adderall and Wellbutrin, and I frequently have headaches.

Advil helps quite well; two pills, every four or so hours (or whatever it says on the box). The best solution is to get sleep. A second source of headaches is due to lack of appetite: I won't eat as much, and get a 'hunger headache' without actually feeling hungry.

Other symptoms for me: weight loss, bad breath or body odor (body odor not noticeable to me until using a tanning bed with some type of cream – distinct bitter smell), loss of sleep, weird concentration or almost ‘meditative’ states, depression (I am bipolar as well; Focalin produced much worse on one occasion, though; wellbutrin may cancel out depressive effects), and extreme calmness.

The extreme calmness I cannot explain, but I think it is due to the wellbutrin, which also is known to occasionally cause body odor. Adderall has been linked to bad breath (due to drying out the mouth). Bad breath can be solved with a procedure involving baking soda and 3% hydrogen peroxide (Listerine, and other oral hygiene products, work for only 20 minutes; this procedure should kill bacteria all day).

Overdoses of adderall make me jittery but not active; I can sit in a chair and feel tense, with frequent desires to twitch, and I will 'crash' afterwards. If taken on a day when I really need sleep, adderall will keep me conscious but I will not be able to pay attention, and will prevent me from falling asleep. The only solution is to relax, close my eyes, and wait, though this recovers very little energy. There is a distinct ‘crash’ period when either of the drugs begins to wear out if I have not gotten enough sleep – which is a sign that I need to reduce dosage.

These drugs can be incredibly powerful, so know what you are taking, and know the effects it has on you. My doctor has recommended that I not take Adderall on weekends or days when I do not feel that I need to. That is excellent advice. Use the drug if and when needed, but avoid constant use.

Oh, and avoid orange juice when taking Adderall or Ritalin. The large amount of vitamin C in orange juice (and many other things) prevents the drug from being absorbed. Just wait an hour to an hour and a half between the drug and orange juice.

Look into taking Omega-3 supplements as well. Omega-3 seems to be good stuff.

The side effects for Concerta include headaches. You should ask your doctor to prescribe you something else. Sometimes it takes a while to find the right drug for each person. Some people have to try many drugs before the right one is found. I hope you soon find the drug that is right for you. Good Luck!

I get headaches from Adderall. But they've gotten better as I've been on the medicine longer.
