I've been eating differently since January 7th and I've already lost 14 lbs. I do drink on the weekends and usually stick with tequila & OJ, Bacardi & Coke Zero, or vodka & cranberry juice. The weight is steadily coming off even with those drinks, so I stick to them.

And to be truthful, I do have "cheat" days on the weekends (although I DO NOT go overboard) and I find that having those days makes things easier.

Rum is made from Sugar Cane, so it's definitely a form of sugar, as is all alcohol. Why not have a wine spritzer
( 1/2 carbonated water & 1/2 white wine)?
You can have 3 of those drinks and still be having fewer calories than in one rum and coke drink.
Good luck.

Diet sodas are harmful to the human body. The artificial sweetners are the harmful substances...fibriods in the breasts. Tender swelling in the breasts and lymphnodes. For some the less calories make them not gain what they would if they were drinking real sugar sodas. Diet drinks don't make you lose weight, unless you are used to drinking sugar filled drinks...then the lack of sugar will cause you to lose what you gained satisfying thirst with sugar drinks. Many women I know, including myself - actually gain weight with diet soda usage because some of us are allergic to the carbonation of any carbonated beverage...and the artificial sweetners seem to puff us up such as an allergic reaction even if we use it in coffee or teas. Splenda seems to be the only sweetner outside of real sugar that doesn't bloat many of us up. They know that diet sweetners are harmful and yet have not been pulled off the market...just like cigarrettes. The jury is still out on their link to cancers.

rum does not have a lot of sugar. rum and diet coke on the weekend will not make you gain weight. I low carb diet myself, this is a safe drink (in moderation of course).

Rum doesn't really have a big discrepancy in calories compared to other alcohol. Diet coke is fine as well.

I usually drink rum & diet. You can have whiskey and water, too. Mixing with water is even better since you don't get a hangover.

All alcohol has a lot of sugar. It is empty calories that provide no nutritional value other than sugars. Sorry, you won't lose much weight drinking. You can balance it out by working out regularly, but no matter what, you will be taking in extra calories that you can't process and still lose weight. Maybe limit it to one a week, and cut back on other high calorie items.

wine is actually a better bet for you than any mixed drink, mixed with or without diet cola. 3.5oz serving of wine is 74 calories and less than 1.7% carbohydrates. a 1oz vodka serving, plus 1 oz of diet cola is 79 calories and 11 grams of sugar.

so you get more liquid for less calories and carbs with wine than you do with mixed drink. also, the sodium in diet sodas can actually cause you to gain weight. My doctor actually told me to not drink diet sodas for that reason.
