None of the above. The best one to use is the plastic, snap on, magnetic rollers with the smooth barrel. This roller will let you set your hair while it's wet, give you smooth curls, the curls will last longer, wont dry out your hair, wont break off your hair. Sponge rollers are worst thing to use on your hair, they break off your hair, because the sponge absorbs the moisture and dry out your hair, plus the hair gets tangled in them. I even sleep in my plastic rollers every night and I wear 45 large rollers to bed.

salon type plastic mesh rollers or as lady gemimi says magnetic rollers but can be a bit tricky if you are not used to setting your hair, hair can take ages to dry using sponge rollers, velcro rollers can get stuck in your hair, Heated rollers are good for a quick fix but they never produce a good a curl as wet set rollers, I have never used steam rollers so I can't comment on their use

sponge rollers are the best. the heat from heat rollers damages your hair. other plastic rollers do not allow for comfort and may cause headaches.
