Yes, if a tounament is going to happen, they need to make the grass look clean and fresh, cheaper than replacing it.

Yes-But usually in blotchy dead areas. Not a course in it's entirety though. Painted grass would effect the performance of the balls. The type of grasses throughout a course is allmost the most important factor in the game

Yeah, I know the tour did it some years at TPC Avenel for the Kemper/Booze Allen/FBR Open.

It doesn't look like traditional "paint".

I think they used the grass paint on one of the NFL fields during the playoffs this year, too.
