Ok so I want to get a tattoo. I have been thinking about getting one for a long time and have recently decided which design to get. I want to get a tattoo of the symbol for Learning from Your Past. Does anyone have any pictures of it?

Also, I want to get it somewhere on my upper back area. Would that be a good idea? I'm on Weight Watchers right now and hope to lose 100+ pounds... Will it get really messed up there? Should i wait until I lose all of that weight? Please Help Me!

Thanks

On your upper back area? Hmmm, I would think it would be best to wait until you lose weight... you skin is stretched out now and will change as you lose it, possibly deforming the tat.... BUT!! it would be an EXCELLENT way to celebrate reaching your goal!
Congrats on this new chapter of your life!
Oh, for the symbol, there are so many... I would start by thinking about your own heritage and then google "learn from past Irish symbol or whatever your heritage is (in a nod to St. Patty's day coming up,lol). Have fun searching!- dd

My number one suggestion for tattoo placement is put it where showing it is optional.

I have four: one lower back, one shoulder, two ankles. I did them in college and now I have a very professional job and regret the ones on my legs that show when I wear dresses. When I was in college I swore I would never ever regret them and now I really do.

I love the ones on my back and would suggest that. Lower back hurt pretty bad, but the one on my shoulder was least painful out of the four.

I also go to Weight Watchers and have battled my weight pretty much my whole life. Younger skin is elastic and I can say that the only thing I've noticed is that..well, you know when you write on a balloon and let the air out and the picture gets smaller? I notice that happen on my lower back a little (the picture looked a smidge smaller, but also consider location: is it some place that changes when I move/bend like an arm, leg, or back?), but I really doubt unless you get it somewhere prone to sagging (stomach, upper arm, etc) that you are going to mess it up with weight gain/loss.

I love body art and think if you have thought itout(and it sounds like you have)then go ahead! Why wait to lose more weight?Your choice of tattoo say's that your somewhat spiritual and weight loss or not ask yourself this question,(if i never lose another pound do i still want this tat?)I bet you'll still want the tattoo and need to do it!I think your upper back is a good spot(most girls want a tramp stamp these days, nothing wrong with that it's just what there called)Make sure you check out the shop were you'll get it done.New needles, gloves, fresh new ink, shops cleanliness, etc.I've got body piercings and have went into tattoo and body piercing shops that were FILTHY and left, you want a tattoo not a disease!By the way i'm a plus sized girl so i no that waiting to lose weight shouldn't matter for you to get what you want,it'll make you feel GREAT to get it,a natural high!Go for it!

well I would sugest that you loss the weight that you want to loss. And well I don't know about a tattoo that is like that but the back part is nice and if it is not big you know what I mean a nice and simple tattoo looks hot on a girl. And well I also have a sugestion to make if you could get a tattoo of a bird on fier like the "phinex" which is born from the ashes its ashes. and I mean you could be born from the past you were I mean you are lossing weight and I am thinking that you are planing to change so I think it is the best picture that you can get. But well that is my opinion.

No offense, but lose the weight first. That way, the tattoo will be a goal and reward, and it will not be distorted or stretched. Good luck!

You should wait until you lose the weight, then it won't get all deformed. As for location, the shoulder is great, because you can either show it or hide it, and it doesn't hurt at all.

I would wait until you're done losing your weight because that's a big change to your body. Best of luck!
