Cause some people want to control what other people believe and how they live their lives.
To each his own I say.

I do not discriminate against others for having faith. I just treat their ideas with the contempt they deserve.

After all - if a grown man tries to convince my children that there are fairies at the bottom of the garden - and you'd better believe in them otherwise you're a bad person, then his ideas deserve nothing more than contempt and ridicule.

Well, alright, perhaps I do discriminate against the terminally stupid. Are you saying we shouldn't?

While I believe that there is no god, when I did believe in god I came to the conclusion that your view is correct.

I cannot believe that a benevolent god would condemn a good person for worshiping what that person feels is god. If there is a benevolent god then the existence of faith, any faith, and the way in which a person lives his life would seem to be the determining factors as to whether or not you face god's praise or condemnation.

Even more than that, I had a hard time believing that a benevolent god would punish anyone for all eternity based on the sins of a brief time on Earth.

because they have nothing to believe in and are jealous of those who have a very set mind as far as religion is concerned!

I also love that those particular individuals will take some crazed fundamentalist as an example and judge the rest of us . nothing but judgmental , nothing but accusatory behavior ,nothing but critique towards those who believe this or that!
I don't find that very intelligent - just because I believe in Christ , it doesn't make me automatically responsible for the crusades or other not so positive behavior of Christians in earlier times or even now! just because I believe in Christ it doesn't mean that I don't believe in evolution ! there are more intelligent believers in all religions who don't flaunt and keep to themselves , and do not cram it down peoples throat!

Because people are afraid of difference and change. So they automatically attack those religions that they don't understand or believe. It's like when the discrimintation against African Americans during the Early years of America, and even today. They don't like what they don't understand or what is different

i do not have a faith (agnostic) but i understand where you are coming from. i have friends of all denominations and i see them as people. unfortunately not all people can do this and tend to ridicule what they don't understand. my brother in law is catholic and i am married to a Muslim. he has a lot of religious friends. not one has ever tried to push their beliefs on me or preach at me and i do not ridicule them. we all socialise perfectly well. when i look at my circle of friends and family it often makes me wonder why everyone cant get on like we do. its just a shame that people cant see passed religion, colour and sexuality and see the person for what they really are.

I don't like people forcing their beliefs on me either. I try not to do it either.

As far as discrimination goes-- it depends upon the definition that you mean. Otherwise, everyone discriminates in one way or another.

Well, I don't care what religion a person is until they have the audacity to try to make me into theirs, assume I care or pretend their religious beliefs are science or belong in secular government or secular education.

Then they have a problem with me, and I have a problem with them.

That being said, I don't think I could ever be friends with someone who did those things, so I guess I discriminate, since those who mean to do me or my secular government harm are my emeies, not my friends.

Because many people see themselves as the perfect follower of their religion, and anyone that is not is a lesser being.

Hey, I don't mock christianity. They can do what they want and more power to them. Don't lump me in that pile.

Because some times people have a hard time understanding that other people will believe differently then them. They lack tolerance.

it only becomes a problem with people who are devout in their faith become narrow-minded and convinced that anyone who believes differently is foolish and should burn in hell. then there's the whole different level where they try to convert you.
