If so is it like the plain old uniforms or do they just have restrictions on certain clothing? If it is a dress code what are the colors of the uniforms?

I don't live there, but if you mean in MI, I looked it up online and found this:
No inappropriate/revealing clothing, no underwear showing, no clothing w/ bad messages (such as drugs, profanity, alcohol, etc.), no bare midriff, short skirts must be mid-thigh, shoulders must be covered, no hair grooming attire, no sleepwear. There was no uniform policy seen.

Not really. Basically, you can wear just about anything as long as it isn't too short or skimpy and doesn't show too much skin. You can't wear your hood up (you can still wear hoodies), no bandanas, doo-rags, etc.

However, hats are always allowed to be worn, whether it's in the classroom or hallways. For example, I commonly wear a fitted baseball cap and/or sunglasses.

No dress-code, but they do have uniforms. You have your choice between yellow or green hi-top Chuck-Taylors, and blue jeans with holes by the knees are a must, sported with your favorite band-tee. And in gym class, board shorts are a must. but don't forget, it IS a school, no red Chucks, please, no earrings, bracelets, but hats are okay on Saturdays.
Hope that helps.
